    Default Antique rocker

I just finished redoing my great-grandmother's rocker for my new granddaughter. I received it when I was a little girl, used it to rock my 3 children and now my daughter is going to use it for her daughter. What a great thing to pass along!

I love it when things like that get passed down. We have a silver rattle that was given to hubby when he was a baby. All his siblings and our children & theirs have used it too. Grandkids will use it when they are babies too.

Cool. The closest thing in my family that I know of is the large teddy bear my parents bought me for my 10th birthday. It ended up being given to my nephews. They're a little too young to have children. lol

So Cool! We have a bunch of things passed down through our family, lots of history. I have the rocker my Grandmother rocked every Grandbaby of hers till she passed on. My oldest was the last one rocked in it.

I also have an old spittoon of my Great-Grandfathers, and an iron bull dog, and a iron corn stick pan & skillet that came over on the Mayflower or the second ship that followed. Husband on one ship, wife on the other so not sure which ship. And an old oil lantern that was in the log cabin my Grandmother grew up in. The rest is old furniture.

Love passing down history! Way to go on the refinishing! What a treasure you have!

What beautiful memories, that you all have cherished over the years. I love antiques, old collections and family herilooms. Such memories and good times. That is so sweet what you are doing and I am sure your daughter will appreciate it.

What a special gift you are passing on. My daughter has the antique dresser that was given to my mom for me when I was a baby. A friend of hers who was an elderly lady gave it to her and it was an antique then from what I was told. My son used it for years as a child. Maybe some day I'll be lucky enough to say my grandchild now uses it.

That's great...oldest daughter has an closet from her great great grandmother and youngest daughter has her desk. Don't know if the desk will make another move but we're gonna try...She was 94 or 96 when she died and I was 17, now 57 so it's old any way it goes. She had them from as far back as I can remember her house

That's really awesome Niko. I love that so many here have items that have been passed down through the generations. It's wonderful to be able to share the memories in such a tangible way.

I'm loving the rocker that Grammerbug refinished. I know our rocker has such warm memories and thoughts attached to it. I'm positive you feel the same about the desk.

It's great that you are able to pass it down. I love antiques and family treasures. I work part time as a weekend manager in a antique shop and love it.
