What kind of dirt did you get? Was it topsoil, or potting mix, or something else? The topsoil they sell around here is pretty bad. Potting mix is good.

You want to put Miracle Grow in the water you use on the plants, as directed by the package. If you got potting mix you probably don't need to use it much the first year.

The lettuce is probably ok if it was only one leaf that wilted.

    I believe it was topsoil.

Lettuce is a cool weather plant............so with your heat, you may have a bit of trouble with it.

You should get 'some' but then it could to seed quickly. Never know until you try it. Good luck......hope you get lots.

(the reason I don't even bother with broccoli--it will 'bolt' about the time I get one head of it!!)

My hint...........when you water the pots.........WATER WELL...........then let them 'almost' get dry. If you push your finger into the soil and it is damp.........let it go.

I have never done this..............am going to try it.

Sure could have used this hint last year.........and figure this year
might not be such a good tomato year either.

No 80 or 90 day tomatoes going in here this year!!!! I will be lucky
    to get some Early Girl!!
