    Default Bleeding Heart (Dicentra spectabilis)

This plant likes shade and well drained soil with sufficient water. The vegetation is cut to ground level each Fall and some compost is added with a cover of wood chip mulch. My clump is in an ideal location, and responds well with many blooms.

One of my favorites. I have three, but they're much smaller.

Mine are HUGE!! About 3 feet across, and I actually split one up this spring....with no problems at all. I removed about 1/3 of it and it still did very well.

I found one that had grown inside the concrete footing near my desk steps. I had to pull it, though. I tried to transplant it, but I couldn't get to the root system. I do plan on planting more in the garden once we get it set up.
