Garden, deer & flooding
My friend grows a large garden every year in the spring. She's tried to grow a fall garden but the deer always get it, though they've never bothered her spring garden in the past. this year is different with the Mississippi flooding. Deer are coming away from the river in herds and they ate her okra and tomato plants, but didn't touch the squash & zuccini (sp?). What can be done to keep them away from the garden short of doing something illegal, which she won't do.
I know about the hair, but touching other people's hair totally grosses her out.

She could try one of those movement sensitive sprinklers.

Poor deer. Bad for your friend, too.
An eight foot fence would probably be most effective. Deer will jump anything less.
It's odd they're eating the tomatoes. Deer usually won't eat stuff from the nightshade family.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

There is a netting available -- we call it deer fencing, but I don't think it's wire. It's thin, black, tall netting.
Some states will provide permits for killing deer (females only) out of season when they are eating crops and even home gardens.
