Seriously doubt I will have any kind of garden this year.
I just don't have a clue how I am going to get it in anytime soon. First off it is more rainier now than it was in April, and I don't think I can afford it. I am just so sad that I won't have a garden this year. I did get the raspberries in the ground though. I guess that is a start. Any how, just had to vent. TIA.

Use the vegetables from my garden and learn to preserve.
Cut down on all unnecessary things.
Free is best.
Get the garage completely cleaned out. Half done-Until BIL and SIL stored their stuff--now back to square 1.
Make the yards nice-weed, mow, plant, flowerbeds, etc.
Stay home more/eat out less if at all.

I know how you feel. I am majorly container gardening as I am in a rental. Will be looking for a house soon. Lettuce and small tomatoes and peppers do pretty well in containers.
We are also getting more rain. Hang in there.

At least your raspberries are in and as you said, that's a start. Is there one more thing you could afford to grow in a container?

We are having the same problem with rain. I planted seeds a week ago and nothing has come up; they must have floated away. I still have time to plant more. I am trying sq ft gardening. Why don't you get yourself a couple of pots and do some container of your fav vegetables; that way you will get a taste of gardening w/o all the work. The sq ft gardening is supposed to be a whole lot less work.

Bonnie...put an add on freecycle or spread the word about needing any extra seeds or seedlings. I just bought a 6 pack of zucchini plants. I know that I would only need 3 really for our use. The rest are just extra. Maybe some people in your area feel the same way and would be willing to give up what they don't need.
Also look for seeds in places like The Dollar Tree, Big Lots, and The Christmas Tree Shops. You probably find what you need for not too much.
Good luck.

Farmers market usually sells cell packs for $1-2.00 here.
Try container gardening a few things. Freecycle might be a good place to get pots for nothing or next to it.
Seeds-getting late. But maybe beans,lettuce? or sprouts/herbs.
I feel you about the rain. I have plants. seedling. and no dug garden as its RAINing constantly. Yikes.

I had that problem last year. It rained so much the garden went in a month late and nothing did well except the weeds. This year we prepped the plot very early, and even though we had to wait for the late season snow a few times, it really made a difference. I have had to wait the last three weeks to get my tomatoes in though.

Rainy, rainy, rainy. I'm afraid the garden centres will all go out of business, I haven't seen a soul in any of them when I drive by.
Everything I put out is dead or dying.

**big sigh** I just got half the garden tilled up last night (thanks to DH). I can now finally plant the tomatoes. They were bought a month ago. Usually, they go directly into the ground when I get home from buying them or a few days after. If finally dried out enough here for him to till.
All the starts I had started, well, they died. I plan on buying a few things from Freddies.Beak-1996, Toad-1998, and Q-1998

Wow it doesn't sound good for anyone! If you plant in contaiers, you have the luxury of moving them indoors if it rains too much. It's been happening all over the States and all we can do is try

When checking on Freecycle, be sure and think "outside the pot" for containers. Rubbermaid bins, wooden crates, old trunks.....the possibilities are only limited by your imagination.
Think of this as a challenge - not a stop sign! "Oh, yeah, weather?!?"

Thanks ladies.... Encouraging to hear I am not the only one kind of struggling. I guess I just need to do it and get it done. Changed my plan to get my garden in by Fathers Day. I know I can do it, just need to set the money aside, and get my fingers dirty.

Think lots of areas are struggling with the weather.
Colder than normal and rainy here too..........I put some things in
but have already lost a cuke ---they really don't like the cold much and I haven't/didn't cover them.
Don't forget to check your CL..........mine has lots of "extras" and starts on it........not free but cheaper than Lowe's or HD.

The OM (old man aka dad) and I put in the seedlings this past Friday. The weather had been rainy for a few days, dry for the next few and it had flopped back and forth. THEN this weekend and for the rest of this week, its going to be super humid which means on and off torrential rains storms. I hope those lil things survive, I'd love to have a garden this year!
