Picked about a dozen ears of corn...only have a few more that will be ready in a couple days. The heat got the rest of it.
Been picking cucumbers and put up 13 pints of pickles.
The cushaw are growing but the heat is catching up to them quick so I'm not sure how well they'll turn out. This is the first time we have ever planted them so don't know too much about them.
All our sunflowers are in the drying stage. The birds will be happy when they are ready.
The squash, okra and purple hull peas are still green and waiting for blossoms.
The peppers are full of blossoms.

I planted some more summer squash seeds Thursday (long story) but we've been eating our cut/come again baby greens for a week or two?

I grew up in SD and we always had rhubarb. Rhubarb crisp was always my favorite. However I haven't had rhubarb in years. You guys are making me jealous. I might have to try growning it here in Alabama but I just don't know how well it would do.

Garden is off to a slow start this year, weather can't make it's mind up... it's either too hot, too chilly, too cloudy or too rainy. So far all we've gotten from our garden is some mesclun greens and chives & tarragon from our barrels. My Basil is still in sprout form pretty much after being started from seed in April. Eggplant, broccoli, squash, beans, cukes, and tomatoes are just starting to show some real growth. Come'on garden!!

Have been getting a few bowls of strawberries...now that I got the 'protector' built.

This will be the first 4th of July that I haven't been eating some kind of tomato!!!

But the good news is that I found about 5 volunteers!

Gave away 15 bags of flowering plants today on CL (three people and they each got five).........and did about the same yesterday. They were free and the people receiving them were thrilled. Didn't have a single "no show".........have a few more to go.

Am totally cleaning out two beds this year......one will be a sitting area and one will be food garden.

Picked two bags of rhubarb that I will be giving away on CL........I think. Placed the ad this AM but people might be leaving town and not want it.

Think I will go strawberry picking tomorrow.........from eating the few that I have gotten I have developed a taste for the FRESH ONES with some good sweet flavor!!

I won't get enough off my plants this year to do anything serious with.........so will go get them.
