Default Strawberry Patch. Fourth Picking. 5 Pounds.

23 June 2011 Strawberry Patch. Fourth Picking. 5 Pounds. 23 June 2011 Strawberry Patch. Fourth Picking. 5 Pounds.

This is probably the last picking from the strawberry patch of 8 by 12 feet for the 2011 year. This little patch yielded about 20 pounds of quality berries from 13 to 23 of June.

We picked our first of the season on Thursday. Enough for a few in our porridge. Now that they've started, we have to pick every other day, at least, or they'll become over-ripe. They should be good for about three or four weeks of production.

We freeze most of them. We have just in time finished the last of last year's berries from the freezer.

Love it! This is a plant I am desperately going to try to get into the garden next year. We love strawberries around here.

I am definately adding strawberries next year. A teacher where I work got a hanging planter with filled with strawberry plants we were all jealous. It even has several strawberries on it. Maybe I'll try both ways.

nice harvest. I didn't realize you could keep picking them because it seems like once they are picked in the local strawberry farms, thats it. I have learned something.

There are two types of strawberry. One is Everbearing and the other is June bearing.

The June bearing are superior in my opinion. A dozen plants gives a reasonable quantity and are easy to care for.
