Default Showing off my little urban homestead

I'm not sure how many of you remember me. I was here some time learning to be frugal and live a little more simply. I was completely unprepared for where that would take me. But I ran into this idea of homesteading and decided I needed to start doing it right where I was, on a little 1/10th acre right outside Milwaukee.

It's been an amazingly fun and productive experiment. It may not look like much to some, but I'm very proud of my first little home and the homestead it's become these last two years. It's completely changed my life from how I spend my time, how I think, how I cook, how I live...it's been a blast.

Here's the little video tour I shared this week. Thought you guys would enjoy it as well. Urban homesteading is really a great example of making do with what you have, which is core to the homesteading and frugal spirit

Wow! You have done a great job! We started a garden this year for the first time and it started off great then the bugs came and we didn't know enough how to control them we have lost a lot. We are still learning. Could use any helpful tips for keeping the bugs at bay.

Thanks for the kind comments everyone. Especially Darlene because I thought I sounded weird

Jas, there are some tricks you can use to help. Some bugs are repelled by certain plants. That why the marigolds are in with the tomatoes. Otherwise my tomatoes were crawling with aphids. People also make "bug smoothies" when they find a pest moving in, because you wouldn't stop for a snack either if your friends were blended up and sprayed around lol.

Oh I'm glad you liked it. That one has a more well rounded view of the "lifestyle" as opposed to just showing the garden. It was done for one of the urban homesteading action days we did in response to the dervaes trademark fiasco.

Oh thank you, it's my favorite signature. Unfortunately it was from a paid membership so it can't be shared.
