    Default Garden (1 August 2011)

    1 August 2011 Garden. 1 August 2011 Garden.

Pictures of the garden taken 1 August 2011. Some produce has matured and has been utilized, beets, carrots, gooseberries, cherry, onions, garlic. Still to come are potatoes, cabbage, Swiss chard, raspberries, blackberries, pears, peaches, luffah, cucumbers, beans, Brussels sprouts, celery, tomatoes, grapes, corn, peppers, melons, squash.

Weather has been very hot and dry. For the last few days there has been some rain, which is most welcome. Watering is avoided, but for about 30 days there was no rain, so I did water the roots of some plants with a five gallon pail to keep them flourishing. Usually downspout rainwater is used if available. I have a total of 270 imperial gallons capacity, when all are filled after a heavy rainfall.

Wow, your garden is doing great, mine is really behind, I'm wondering now if I'm going to be able to harvest anything.
Pine trees, with their needles pointing up to heaven, represent everlasting light and life.

Great! I'm picking a zucchini everyday & about 3 cherry tomatoes from my "flower garden". Of course, I eat the tomatoes after I pick them. I've just been slicing the zucchini thin, sprinkle with salt & lemon pepper. Delish!

Our garden hasn't been the best but we have managed to get a variety of vegetables. No corn thats a bummer--too dry, I guess and too hot. Few tomatoes. But we have a freezer stuffed with jalapeno poppers !

Your garden looks edible, what is the name of your dog, he/she reminds me of Tweetie. Very cute. You will have to give me tips when I move.
