Default Got the garden started...sort of.

We got the little 4x4 raised bed put up, and filled up. I drove all over town today and no one is selling seeds. The nursery type places were all closed since it's Sunday. The halloween stuff is out in stores already though. I will call around at work tomorrow and if I can't find anyone with seeds I guess the next step is to order them online. Do most people get their fall seeds in the spring? Or is a Fall garden just totally weird? Cause I got some strange looks asking about seeds today!

I plant a fall garden at the end of August every year. I get some seeds locally in the nurseries and some online. Since you can save the extra seeds and use them on subsequent years, I always have my favorites on hand. I think Burpee might be offering free shipping now.

Tried both and they didn't have anything. I think I'll just have to order online...

This will be my first, but we hope to plant lettuce, spinach, cabbage, squash, onion...not totally sure. I need to really figure out what will best fit in the small space we have.

Most stores have gotten rid of seeds and garden products by June. You'll have to mail order if you didn't save any. I suggest Pinetree Gardens, they are reliable and inexpensive.

I'm getting ready to put in some fall seeds myself. Lettuce, swiss chard, carrots, and more onions.

Pinetree is good, also take a look at Artistic Gardens, you can buy small packets for 35 cents which is great for small gardens, gardening in pots, etc. I buy from them all the time.

    Hi,
I don't know if you are interested or saw Niko's post about Gardens alive. If you sign up to get a catalog you get $25 off a $50 purchase. Today I rec'd an email from them that shipping is free on any size order and you also get an additional 15% off.
