You would'nt be out anything to try. I might let them dry out a little first, let us know if you get sprouts. Good luck! Hannah

If you don't have GMO peppers that aren't meant to have seed saved then you can . If you happen to have heirloom etc. yes wait till peppers are slightly over ripe but not moldy. Put the seeds on paper plate and air dry then put into seed envelope . I save mine every year.

thanks! That's a good question. So basically get an organic green pepper and save the seeds after letting them dry out. Seed envelopes??? are they something special or just any old envelope will do?

Yup, I have two drying on my counter right now. I save the top of the pepper with the seed attached to it and just let it air dry on the counter. Then I put it into a small zip bag and label it with the year.

I leave the seed on the pepper so I can remember what it is after it dries. I have a chili and a sweet red pepper drying and it would not do to mix them up.

You could just put the seed on a paper plate or towel, but around here it would get knocked on the floor and that would be the end of that.

Thanks for the advice. I think I'm going to try it with one. How do I know if I have a GMO pepper plant? I just bought it at walmart - already growing....I didnt read any more than it was a green pepper.

Don't forget to take a permanent marker and write on the zip baggy of what your seeds are! I used to tape sticky notes to baggies to remember what was in them
