We decided on a use for the metal inside our old box spring!
We were trying to decide how to reuse the huge frame of metal from out old box spring. Dh took apart the box spring and the wood framing went for more roosts in the chicken coop. I was looking at that huge piece of metal framing inside trying to decide what to do with it.
It is fairly flexible. We decided we are going to bend it into an arch and stake it down. We are going to grow out cucumbers up it next year to make it easier to pick the. I had seen a pic online of someone using cattle fencing. It is tucked in the barn for next growing season
I had seen a pic online of someone using the metal from a twin box spring as a pot hanger btw.
Now I'm going to rip apart the old mattress and see exactly what is inside that.
I hate to put stuff in the landfill and hate to pay the dumping fees!

Box springs (insides) make good trellises.....I've seen people use them a lot around here.

I knew someone who groomed his snowmobile trails with an old-fashioned bedspring he found somewhere. I'm loving the trellis idea-never thought to take a mattress apart.

Wow thats an impressive re-use! Question about the garden thing though, won't it rust when it rains/gets wet? Are you able to spray paint it to seal it to prevent rust?

Oh more good ideas! I never thought about rust to be honest. We have tons of half use cans of spray paint though. Good idea!

Great idea.........and way to upcycle!!
I have used chain link and field fence for my clematis. I have too many to be buying a trellis for each one. (and don't have the time to make all that I need!)
