Mulch
29 September 2011 Mulch. 29 September 2011 Mulch.
Mulch, partially composed wood chips, are available from the City free of charge. It is only necessary to pick them up. There is a half cubic yard box placed in the back of he Van to accomplish this task. Today a load was transported and the mulch placed on the Saffron Crocus bed for overwintering to ameliorate the effects of the freezing and thawing cycles.Durgan

We also have that, although it's primarily pine and junipers being chopped up. Occasionally, there will be a deposit of deciduous trees, and I'll grab a tub of that. Pine doesn't chop up as finely, and it tends to end up with rather large chunks that are unsightly.

Sometimes I won't pick it up if the pile is considered poor quality, but usually it is more than acceptable, and the price is right, and it is a bit of exercise.
If a large quantity is required sometimes, I buy for $15.00 per yard and get ten yards and store at the back and use as required.Durgan
