Make sure your saw blade is new. Those oak pallets are tough!

We had some red oak ones at work one time, that I turned into new doors, drawer and new shelfs for an old cabinet. Was able to slice, joint and glue the side pieces back together to make panels for the doors. It turned out fairly nice, if I do say so myself.

Neat video, I saw something last month where a man had turned several into gardens. he took the 'weed begone' black materal stapled it to the back of the pallet, then cut strips to make pouches in the slat openings for the soil... turns out his herbs loved it- they were gorgeous.

Remember that if you find some make sure that you ask for permission to take them, I know a person who has permission to go to businesses and take then turn them into new ones and resale them.

marla i know that you would not just take them. sometimes when people see them stacked they think that they might be throwing them away.
