Neighborhood apple trees - awesome!
So, my friend and I usually get apples from her neighbor's apple tree - he has a huge one and is very generous. But this year, the tree didn't produce, so I kept my eyes out for any other trees that looked like the fruit was going unused. I found two within five minutes of me! They let me pick as many as I wanted, so I got two big bags full. I grated and froze some for apple bread; I froze slices for strudel; I made apple butter and canned it and made apple salsa and froze that. I am so thrilled to have all of this stuff for the next year - yay!
I put some apple butter into small 4 oz jars for favors for my baby shower and I'm going to give some as gifts for Xmas.
