    Default Chinese Mandarin Oranges

2 December 2011 Chinese Mandarin Oranges 2 December 2011 Chinese Mandarin Oranges

The first box of Christmas oranges were bought today. The offering was Chinese Mandarin Oranges. They are exactly like the famous oranges that we use to get from Japan in the Christmas season. Absolutely perfect. Price $4.99 per box.

The last several years (10 or more) the Japanese oranges were not available in my area and the market only offered a very inferior type from various places. The oranges were hard to peel, had seeds, and were sour. I quit buying them.

Are they the same as tangerines?

If they're what I think they are - they're like a cross between a clementine and a tangerine - no seeds, super juicy & sweet yet easy to peel.

Durgan - where did you buy/order these?

The Chines Mandarin Oranges where in Zehrs. I think Zehrs are a family of stores associated with Loblaws. The oranges are clearly a clone of the Japanese Orange that we use to buy.

I've been to Zehrs - great find Durgan!

We can buy those loose by lb from the Asian market. My dad prefers oranges and I prefer those or clementines. Enjoy your bounty!

Just got back from my Zehrs store. They have these, but when I opened the box to check them they were rotten.I went through more of the boxes and same thing, and I mean really bad.I told the woman who was working there but she seemed less than interested. So not only will I not be getting any of these Mandarins,I don't think I will be going to Zehrs for anything else. What a disappointment.

I went again today to Zehrs at the Brampton Mall and bought four boxes. When checking the boxes in the store, I found one orange deteriorating.

I know from past experience that there can be many rotten ones, certainly later in the season.

We have one here called Satsuma ..........and they are a mandarin orange. I LOVE THEM.

The only reason I got a Safeway Card is because they are generally the first store to get them...........they are cheapER the first week and then go up in price.....will sometimes
come down in price just before TG.

so far this year...........15 pounds FOR ME!!!!

They are usually off the market by end of Dec...........unless Fred Meyer has them and then they aren't cheap.
Travel light. The baggage of the past can only hold you back.
