So since there are 4 grams of sugar per teaspoon, I wonder how many teaspoons of sugar are in a serving of each cereal. And who only eats 1 serving anyway?

#1 is my all time favorite but I have not eaten it since 2000.
I'm going to be the oddball and maybe get blasted but I really believe most processed grain are bad for humans. Not the word processed. If it has to be so processed is it really food? It is amazing to me how man has genetically altered wheat and so many other crops.

~50% sugar? Wow, that's insane. We rarely buy cereal since DD needed extensive dental work. She was addicted to it. I did ask DH to pick some up for me this week as I'm trying to add more fiber. I had to go to the website list to check out where my choice landed. Hmm, Mini-Wheats is apparently very good.
I've never liked sweet cereals. I was the dorky kid eating warm shredded wheat or rice puffs with a drizzle of honey while my DH grew up with pop-tarts, Lucky Charms and Apple Jacks. Ick. That stuff should be for dessert only. So on the rare occasions he does buy those they are eaten after dinner. At least I talked him into that.~~Constance

Oh dear. Although I no longer feed little kids, my parrots like cereal as treats and now I see why. Their absolute favorite are the Ohs. And I feel like a very bad mom for not reading the label and realizing they have that much sugar. I guess they won't be getting that but on their birthdays.
My horses LOVED Frosted Mini Wheats.
I'm a grits kind of girl, no sugar. I like it sometimes with berries and other times with a half a teaspoon of butter and salt and pepper.
Totally debt free since January 2011.

Yum! Cap'N Crunch with crunchberries and without is my favorite! Fortunately my kids don't care for it so I don't buy it. If I did I'd have to eat it so it wouldn't get wasted...LOL! Snort!

We go through a box of cereal a day, although none of those ones (I've never even heard of most of them). Unfortunately they are all high in sugar, even the ones that look like they shouldn't be.

May I suggest a bowl of large flake quaker oats covered with water cooked for about five minutes in the nuke machine, whole milk and no sugar. The fat in the whole milk after about a week conditions one, that it substitutes for sugar. The kid does not start the day with a sugar high.
My view is to avoid anything that has added sugar. This is very difficult with kids due to the constant advertising, and habits of their parents.Durgan

When I was a kid the best cereal was Mr. Wonderful's Surprize. It was like a Kix, only sweeter and filled with chocolate or vanilla frosting. When my mother went out of town Dad would let us have some.I can still remember that sugar rush and then the massive headache. We gave our kids steel cut oats.Like it or lump it.
