Shirley Poppy is the name given to an ornamental cultivar group derived from the European wild field poppy (Papaver rhoeas). Wikipedia. I have many poppies growing at random throughout the garden. They self seed and are a welcome sight during the late Spring and early Summer. Always a welcome addition in the garden.I dispense seeds amongst the tulip beds to hide the vegetation, which can get ragged in appearance. One plant if given sufficient room will produce about 100 flowers over the season. Neena is always sniffing for rabbits.Durgan

Yes I do the same.I like to just toss the seeds on top of the last remaining snow in late winter and when the snow melts down they just pop up throughout the bed. They are a great color addition as your pics show,Durgan.
Looking at your pics just makes me anxious to get gardening again.Oh well, soon be time to start up my seeding in the indoor greenhouse under lights.
