    Default Weight Loss Food

Three months or about two pound per week is enough of a weight loss. I lost 21 pounds from 210 to about 189, and kept it off. This in about three to four months.

First I quit buying sugar and don’t eat any desserts, except berries with skim milk. Best to avoid if possible. It was not difficult for me, since I seldom ate desserts, but used sugar on everything.

Then change your diet completely. Here is how I do it.

My Juicer. Believe it or not I got mine for nothing. My son brought it to me from a friend who didn’t use it. At first I was not impressed, since I had a centrifugal juicer years past and found it such a misery to clean that I gave it away, also it didn’t leave enough of the microscopic fibre.

These units have to be heavy. I keep mine on a table in the dining room and move it into place in the kitchen as required. The Champion appears to be indestructible, and does a marvellous job, and is easy to clean. I am finding more uses for it as I get more experience.

Usually depending upon the product I cook the product and beat it into a mash Lancaster 1-Speed Hand Blender | Canadian Tire Canadian Tire, then strain Strainers-Juicers - Endurance Stainless Steel Food Mill, then put the residue from the strainer through the juicer, not always depends upon the produce. Then if there is enough I pressure can for storage, otherwise it is put in the refrigerator for immediate use. With experience, I have ascertained that one can preserve almost any fruit and vegetable, only limited by the availability and imagination.

For making juice raw, I simply beat the product into a juice in the blender.I use whatever is available. You get all the fibre this way. This is a raw product, but I feel a lot must be lost digesting, but at least one can ingest a lot of fresh produce. It will keep in the refrigerator if sealed for about 8 days. I prefer the cooked and strained or a combination of both.

I might add making these products a portion of your diet, weight control is easy and weight loss is relatively rapid at first even without noticing, since appetite is reduced. And certainly one is getting all the necessary nutrients. My view is there is no sense losing weight by dieting and still eating the same food that made one heavy. Further there are few people in our modern society, who do not have a weight problem.

I do eat some normal food periodically in reduced proportions and on festive occasions. When sort of hungry, simply have a glass of juice, mix in a glass if necessary to improve flavour if this is a big issue with you. I am full of energy and very active. More so, after losing the weight.

Durgan, If I had to stick to a diet I would have blown it a long time ago.

I lost 50 lbs. and have kept it off...in fact, I'm still losing and hope I don't lose any more. You get to a point at my age where you get loose skin where there used to be fat.

I weighed 200 lbs. My joints hurt, I was depressed, fat, and couldn't quit eating to save my life. I stayed hungry all of the time and I had no energy.

I stopped eating anything with High Fructose Corn Syrup in it. It is in just about everything!!! That cut out the cravings.

I started taking fish oil and vitamin B complex because of the depression and my high cholesterol, and amazingly it boosted my metabolism! I woke up hungry instead of starting eating about mid day. My depression dissappeared about a week after starting it. The cholesterol meds made me ill and I couldn't take them.

I also removed any partial grains from my diet. The only thing I eat is whole grains. If it says "enriched" on the label, that is a partial grain. They never, ever put back everything they take out.

I can eat all of the sugar I want, it doesn't seem to affect me, but then I don't crave it like I used to either.

I eat a lot of fresh veggies, greens 3 X per week. and a lot of fruit.

That's it. The weight keeps dropping off.

So, if you start getting frustrated with your limitations...don't give up, try something different.

I have added more detail to the original post. I actually love the "juices" primarily for the nutritional value, but also it remove me from processed commercial food.

As long as you are happy that's all that really counts. I'd be miserable with no breads.

My family were farm people and biscuits, cornbread and pie is just part of every day fare. I'm like Tennessee Earnie Ford, I just can't eat without bread.

For some people, the cost of the fruit is too much to handle, especially if you're nowheres close to being able to grow your own.

But, this is an excellent post for those that are single or have a larger-than-normal food allowance.

    Thanks!

Cost can be reduced considerably by obtaining and processing when the produce is in season. Also there are many pick your own which might reduce cost. The main thrust besides the possible health benefits is avoiding the Commercial Processed foods as much as possible.

    Hey Mom,

I probably couldn't afford Durgan's juice diet either but I have found this out and it took me a long time to realize it. It is actually cheaper to eat fresh food than it is to eat processed food.

If you eat fresh whole foods and whole grains, your body is satiated a lot sooner and you don't eat as much.

I found out that when I eat whole foods, the food provides my body with what it needs and there aren't any of those food cravings.

When I eat highly processed foods, I eat more because a lot of the vitamins are gone and my body is still screaming at me to give it what it needs.

So, the grocery bill isn't as high, believe it or not, when I eat whole foods.

We average $150 to $200 a month for two people and that's because he drinks 4 cases of soda and 6 or 7 gallons of milk a month (that's no lie...he drinks that all by himself!)

When I was by myself, I spent on average of about $70 a month and things were a lot cheaper up there than they are here in FL.

Eggs are $2.29 a dozen!!! I couldn't believe it and Milk is almost $3 a gallon.

But Durgan is right. You buy in season. Vegetable juice would probably do just about as good as the fruit juice if you can't afford it.
