    Default Garden Dust Sprayer.

6 January 2012 Garden Dust Sprayer. 6 January 2012 Garden Dust Sprayer.

Garden dust Sprayer was received today and test operated using diatomaceous earth. It is advertised for powders and liquids. My use is primarily for powders. The unit was tested for operation for about ten minutes and performed to expectations. It is well made and the powder jet worked well in all orientations. It will be used during the growing season on cabbages and brussels sprouts and various garden plants as determined. Coverage appears to be possible for all areas compared to the limited hand method of dispersal. This is the one purchased. Thanks for the info Durgan, looks like we might be investing in one of these.

Default I plan on getting a duster, but different

I bought a huge jar of diatomaceous earth and realized that it was just too heavy to spread lightly on anything.

Watched a youtube video by, I think it was gardengirlTV??? Not sure..she used a "Dustin Mizer". You hand crank it.

I've used those pump sprayers (the kind that remind you of a bicycle pump) before and if the air gets humid you might as well hang it up, it isn't going to do a blessed thing.

The Mizer, is hand crank with metal parts inside. Johnny's Selected Seeds carries it and I am definitely going to get one this month.

It's a little pricey, but I've got an acre of land, a dog with fleas, cutworms and fungus gnats to deal with, LOL! Oh, and the carpet!

I contemplated that hand crank sprayer, and rejected it mentally due to it having a cheap plastic appearance. Also I thought the dispenser end was far too large to meet my requirements. I don't want to smother the vegetable, only get some insecticide under the leaves in most cases. However I look forward to your experience with the hand crank one.

Ahh! Well, the reviews show several things.

    1) There is a deflector attachment available and they didn't get it.
    2) You don't want a heavy dusting or it will harm your plants. It is made especially for diatomaceous earth and seven dust types.
    3) I saw it in action on that youtube video I was talking about and I was really happy with the amount it put out. She did note that she watered her garden prior to using it so that it would stick.

Thanks for the reviews though, but I'm not convinced that I'm making a bad choice here.
