A pretty Beetle

This beautiful beetle is seen periodically in the potato patch. Beneficial or not, I don’t know, but am endeavouring to find out.
There is a wonderful thunderstorm in progress. It is sorely needed. If it wasn't for my mulch the garden would be a disaster, since there were only about two decent rains since about April first, almost three months.Durgan

It looks like a harlequin bug. They are not beneficials, they suck the plants juices. We get them on squash in the summer in the demonstration garden where I work. We hand pick the bugs and their nymphs and eggs from underneath the leaves and drown them in soapy water.

I think it is the Small Milkweed Beetle. There are many milkweed plants throughout the garden, with the intention of attracting the Monarch butterfly. If so, harmless to me.
