I want a Dutch oven - do you cook with one?
I want a Dutch oven and that will be the next item I purchase for our homestead. In case of emergencies, one could light a fire and cook pretty much anything in it.
Do you have one or want one?
Here is a website with lots of information on it along with many recipes.

Some of these recipes could certainly be cooked on a regular cookstove. The chili recipes look really good.

I too have a dutch oven, I love it! I cook many one pot meals in it, although I mainly use the top of the stove for most of them.
Thanks for the recipe site. WOW, so many to choose from!

I have a cast iron dutch oven with a lid that has the little prongs hanging down from the top. The liquid rises up to the top of the lid then slides down the prongs back on the the meat to baste it.
This dutch oven does a wonderful job on a roast or ham.Hello from Sunny Central Florida

I have 4 cast iron ones, 2 with the legs and 2 with out. They are wonderful, the ones with out legs can be used inside or out, on the stove or in the oven. The ones with legs I usually use outside, using broquettes to cook with, I keep one of each in our travel trailer and the other set inside. They do such a good job of cooking what ever you make and if using inside you can use a low heat because of the cast iron.

I also have a cast iron dutch oven. It's wonderful. I love being able to brown my meats and veggies on the stove top, and then being able to slide it in the oven. Builds some good arm muscles too!
