    Default Anyone compost??

We just moved into our house and I am planning my garden for next spring. I figure step one to be starting a compost pile, I have some memories of my great grandmothers beautiful rose garden and veggie patch, and I know she swore by composting. Any helpful hints and suggestions?

I used to compost, but only composted grass clippings and leaves. (no foods) My house backed to a nature center and was located on a hill, so I would just drag it to the hill on a tarp and drop. *LOL* Each spring, I would turn it over a bit and had a great rich soil on the bottom. Our next door neighbor would hold his compost up from falling over the hill with chicken wire. hehe (one year a deer had her fawn in his compost pile)
I know many people have all types of bins and aeration systems etc, but what I did worked for me.
I didn't want to do food composting because of all the animals in the area, so I can't offer much advice there.
