I was wondering if you could post step by step pictures of how you growing your vegetable seeds?

I know that everyone could learn from you having the experience you have.

I'm serous about growing my own plants from seed this year..I need the visual knowledge to learn how you do it if you don't mind?

    Thanks my friend.

No problem Brenda. When I start my onions (as soon as I get seed) I'll snap pictures. Or maybe I can shoot a quick video for you.

Quick questions, is it time to start onion seeds now? Do you sow them in a solid square, or rows, or pods?
    Thanks,

    I can do a video!

Winkie) what zone are you in? I'm in zone 5, and about mid Jan to late Jan is when to start onions. I seed them into an open flat...they kinda grow as a mat together. Trim greens when they hit 4-5", it keeps the stocky instead of super long and thin. Then I just take the block of onions out to the field, toss em around to deranged roots and gingerly pull them apart. Worked real well for me last year, but I started them late so they were spindly going into the ground.

For each zone warmer you are than me, you can add about 2 weeks to my start time.

I am in 6a. What varieties of onions do you grow? I want them for salsa & would prefer larger ones.
. I looked for the Minnesota Midget melons in my seed catalog, but didn't find them. They had free shipping this week so I ordered Big Mama tomato seeds.
I used to be able to buy them in the stores, but now they only sell the plants in the store & seeds have to be ordered.
    Thanks,

Winkie) you can prolly wait til mid Feb then.

Brenda) I figured we were close in zones due to you being in New York!

I'm going to try and seed brassicas mid feb. It might be too early but I want them out in spring. They just can't handle the heat if I put them out in June with my toms and peppers.

Toms n peppers always get seeded around St pattys day for me. I might also seed my peppers earlier too this year.

Here is the seed starting video! It's only for onions, I can try and do another one of tomatoes when the time comes.
