Down on the Homestead - Sept. 7th - 13th
Good morning everyone, a great morning to all of you.
Well its Sunday here which means a day of rest. I'm not sure what will spring up that needs to get done, but as I look around there isn't much. Were really working at sticking with keeping Sunday as our day of rest as a family, enjoying each other's company and working at our hobbies (kids included).
Yesterday I purchased a multi-grain bread loaf from the Hutterites and I need to search on the web today for the recipe. It is totally awesome and has the most wonderful texture and taste of any bread I've tasted. I have a number of grains here that I can grind, so its searching for me. If I can't find it, I'll take a drive up there on the weekend and see if I can get it from them.
Hope you all have a wonderful day on your homestead.

A new week in bloom. It is a warm day. We still have our air on.
But it is just too hot to be without it yet.
Today DH is mowing the front lawn. I think the boys will end up helping as always.
We are going to paint the steps to the front porch as we replaced them not to long ago. Do touchups where needed.
I want to put out my fall decorations today too.
I hope you enjoy your day of rest with your family CJ.~*Michelle*~

Hi Ladies!
Another week on the homestead! The girls will finally go back to school on Thursday
Today I organized a few cabinets. I got an idea to make a snack cabinet for the kids to help them when they make their lunches. I got some great deals on granola bars at the store today.
Ashlee is doing the dishes now and I just finished a piece of my homemade, from scratch cheesecake
.
Tonight is eBay listing night, I have some loaded already, but have to finish before I have to do DH's stuff.
Have a wonderful day!

Good morning, its the start of another work week - Monday. Its cooled down a bit here so hopefully no a/c today. Windows are opened and theres a gentle breeze, so its nice and cool in here right now.
I need to get the clothes folded and put away. I plan on washing bedding again today along with some quilts to get them ready for the cooler season. I'm determined to go as long as possible before we turn on the heat.
I need to get some dusting done, and then go through some of my cookbooks to see if I can find some multi-grain bread recipes. I purchased a loaf at the Hutterite sale on the weekend and it was scrumptious so want to make some of my own.
I also need to look at my prepped supplies downstairs and see what I need to add before the winter months are upon us. I also need to look at my pantry stock and see what meals I can make without having to purchase anything this week. With the frugal challenge going on, its fun to see how far you can stretch stuff that you had put off doing. Thanks Danielle for that challenge!!
Thats the buzz on my homestead.

Then I will feed dh and I and figure out what chores I want to do today!
Its a gorgeous drizzly day here, with a 30% chance of rain! DH needs to find the scanner cd so I can reinstall it and get the bible sutdy up and running!
Thats all from this homestead!!!!!

Good morning, its Tuesday and sort of a dull day here so far. It sure would be nice if it rained, but I'm not holding my breath. I need to water the plants outside, but keep holding off. I can't hold off any longer, so if it doesn't rain I need to do it tonight.
Not much doing around the homestead today. Going be a kinda lazy day here. I think I'll get some Christmas ornaments out and start painting, getting ready for our craft sales later this fall. It will be nice to have some done early.
Need to also do some work on our budget and see where I can save more $$ each month. I want to close the leaks and Danielle's challenge is really helping. I'm sure though there are more leaks that I'm not aware of.
Thats the buzz on my little homestead this morning.

Mornin sis!
Not much doing here today either. Its a high allergy day for me so the benadryl won't let me be as active! I will probably end up in a nap soon. I hate being sooooo groggy!
I got the Preface to the bible study mailed out yesterday, will work on Eve today. Its all scanned but I need to resize it so its readable but not to large!
Then after dh wakes up I need to vacuum.
Well thats all from here!

Good morning.
We had a new addition to our family this weekend. My bother is getting back together with his wife and they are unable to keep his dog. My kids love Rusty and so we said we would adopt him. My brother drove 8 hours to bring him here. This is a big adjustment for me. It's like having a toddler in the house again; I have dog toys and blankets all over my house
Dh still is not working so having him at home all day is another big adjustment. I'm having a hard time getting stuff done. I'm praying he finds a job soon. We need the money and also my life and get back to normal.
Today I am doing laundry, dusting, and cleaning the bathroom. Maybe later I'll get some bread and muffins baked.
That's about it down on this homestead. Have a great day everyone!

It's a warm Tuesday here. I am ready for the cooler temperatures that some of you are already speaking about. I can't wait until I can finally turn my air off for a while.
It is a work day as usual for me. I have laundry to wash and put away today. I need to unload the dishwasher and put away the dishes.
I am sure we will be up late as usual working on homework. Seems like they get tons of it. After cooking, cleaning, going to sports practices, doing homework, and whatever else comes up when is there any time for anything else? Whew!
My porch looks so much better after being painted. I was able to put a few fall leaves out. I guess I will finish it up maybe this weekend.
I want to do deep cleaning in the livingroom and rearrange it, but just don't know where the time will come from. I would do it on the weekend, but Chris plays baseball double headers on Saturdays and Sundays is always a cleaning/catch-up kind of day for me. I will just have to schedule it in somewhere.
Well, I hope you have a wonderful day.~*Michelle*~

What a beautiful breezy day here! The air is just blowing through the house and it is only 73 degrees out

I cleaned the porch off again from DH yard sale finds. This is his dumping ground, and also the first thing people see when they enter the house.
I also cleaned out my hall closet. I found some stuff to get rid off, and DH wants to have another yard sale on Saturday. I got more decluttering to do if I want to get rid of more stuff! The money will come in handy too!
I've got candles burning and it smells wonderful. The ground beef is thawing, I think I'll make Hamburger Helper for dinner, since it is my turn for dishes and I have 9th grade orientation tonight with Ashlee.
We may get the remnants of Tropical Storm Henri later in the week, so I must keep an eye on that, and also Hurricane Isabel in the Atlantic. We are in our prime season here on the east coast for hurricanes. They occur here most often in September.
Bout it on the homestead today!

Good morning everyone. Its Wed. and everyone must really be busy on their homesteads.
Danielle, please stay safe through this hurricane season.
Well I'll be busy with painting crafts today and from here on in until our craft sales are done. Dh may be changing jobs and it will mean lower pay, but right here in our town, which will save major $$ in gas, wear and tear on the van and on dh both. So if that happens, it means we need to get lots of craft sales this year.
I plan on baking bread today has well. Its much cooler, so instead of purchasing bread at $1.29 a loaf, I'll make some and freeze ahead. It drives me crazy when I have to pay $1.29 when I can make my own and can't because of the heat!!!
I'm going to copy Danielle's list about the electrical costs and post it on our fridge to keep track of what things cost. We too are watching our electric bills with a passion.
Also plan on doing some reading and quilting later today. I'm almost finished another quilt top for a Christmas gift and want to be able to start quilting it within the next couple of weeks.
Thats the buzz on our homestead.

Hello!!
Spent the day yesterday at the hospital with Kody, another appointment, his arm is getting better but still not healed, we are to go back in a month. The doctor told him something he did not want to hear though.......no hockey! He was devastated, he really was, I know there are other things to do but he loves his hockey.
Very tired when we got home, 5 hours of driving and many hours waiting!
This morning was spent in the barn, man came to trim the horses hooves so that took a couple hours and while we were out there we cleaned the chicken coop(fun eh?) and then picked some tomatoes and cucumbers. Had late shower and made homemade soup for Dylan and I. Dylan is busy with his schoolwork this afternoon and I have been cleaning the flower beds, my petunias need pulled and just general tidying.
Cleaning out my china cabinet drawers tonight (which will probably take until bedtime!!)
Hope you are having a great day on the homestead!

It has been raining off and on today. We need all the rain we can get around here. I enjoy it because it seems to cool things down.
I haven't had time to do much on the homestead, but I have managed to get some laundry done.
Richard has been working on building a doghouse. He is trying to talk us into getting him a dog. He has been working on it off and on since Sunday. We haven't made any promises, but I can't wait to see what it turns out like.
DH is at a fire school. He helps by demonstrating the techniques. He really loves it. I wish he would have pursued it more and made this his career instead of just volunteering.
Well, that is the buzz on the homestead.~*Michelle*~

Good morning Heather and all to follow. Well we had rain, all day yesterday and it was still pouring when I went to bed at 11 p.m. It was so good to sit and listen to the rain fall. We haven't had rain since June 1st. Its still cloudy out as well, so we may end up with more yet today.
I need to wash clothes today and hang outside. If it rains, I'll hang inside.
Need to do more painting today of craft items and ornaments. The more I get done now, the less rushed we are during the craft sales. I need to pick up some Varathane today while I'm out getting the mail.
Going to make up a batch of cabbage rolls today and freeze some. Haven't had those for a long time and dh requested them on the weekend. I love this time of the year when I can finally use my oven and bake ahead.
Need to do some trimming on my roses today and check the perennials and start getting them ready for the winter. Have to rake up some leaves for covering.
Thats the buzz on my homestead.
