Exclamation Down on the homestead - Sept. 14th - 20th

Good morning everyone. Wow were going into the middle of Sept already. Just doesn't seem possible, but outside you can sure tell. It was so cool yesterday, the leaves are turning color and all the fields are now done. Before we know it, another year will be here.

Today is a day of rest here, although I plan on baking cookies for the kids.

We may go for a ride later on, not sure yet.

Hope everyone has a great day on your homesteads.

It is a beautiful day today. It actually looks like fall is coming. It is in the 70's today, but will be in the 80's tomorrow. I can actually turn my air off today and enjoy the fresh air with my windows opened.

I am decluttering and rearranging the living room today....finally! I have already taken pics and listed items on ebay. I am on a roll this morning. I hope I don't slow down. I have clipped and filed my coupons.

I haven't felt like doing much of anything lately. I am just glad that I am getting something accomplished for a change.

That's the buzz here on our homestead.

Well I need to run for water today, we are out of drinking water!
I am making ds his bday cake for our big dinner today.
We had a marvelous storm last night, unfortunately it hit about 330 am and all the windows were open! I was snoozing on the couch and woke up to water in my face!
We rushed and got the windows closed but we have some wet carpet near the windows.
Once the wndows were closed our home got really stuffy really fast so dh has hte air on again, on top of everyting the heavy winds messed up all our screens! We just made them Friday! They are make shift but now we have to redo them all!I will be glad when the cool temps kill of the bugs and dh won't be so screen happy!
    Well thats it from here!

    Good morning!!

We are getting some much needed rain here today, a little humid but we'll take the rain.

Sad news here today, we got a call from DH's sister that his Mom had taken another spell. She is in the hospital. Her heart is slowing down and they can't seem to get the meds right. She was in the hospital last week for three days and the doctors sent her home with new medication. Last night she had pains in her chest and down both her arms. Doug immediately jumped in the van and is headed over (2 hour drive) to see his Mom. She is just the sweetest woman in the world, never complains, works hard (too hard at 80 years old) and full of love for us all! The kids and I are staying close to the phone today. I will be doing some baking and this kids are watching a movie this afternoon.

Thank you so much CJ, DH just called and as he arrived at the hospital they just transferred her to another in a bigger city. He is driving there now. I am so glad he went and so is he. She is stable but they are trying to get a surgeon to see her as soon as possible to determine what needs to be done next.

Today I'm just trying to catch up on some laundry. Ashlee, Courtney and I went to church, Raechel has a cold, so she stayed home with Dad.

I went to the Dollar store with my mom to pick up stuff that Raechel has to have for school for tomorrow. I wish they would tell us ahead of time. At least it was all on clearance.

DH and I have begun our hurricane preparations. It looks as though Southern New Jersey is in the path of this hurricane, although they don't have an exact landfall point yet. We have made plans to move our kayaks over to his mom's (they have a big garage) and move the deck furniture into the basement. I'll have to secure the grill to the deck, too. I got batteries at the dollar store for our flashlights and radios, and I have to assess my candle situation. I think I have plenty. I also have enough water and dry milk for a couple of days. I hope this old house will withstand whatever Isabel brings our way. My main concern is my neighbors Pecan tree. It's quite old and I don't think it would make it. DH has to clean out the gutters Tuesday or Wednesday. We're expecting it Thursday night into Friday.

I'm off to make my potato cheese soup (it's in the FV cookbook) Combined with some wings, it will make for a yummy dinner.

Have a nice day on your homestead!

Heather, I will be praying for your MIL. I am glad your husband is able to be with her.

I did get my livingroom rearranged finally! I made myself get up and do it. Now to finish the laundry.

I had a productive day as well. Washed the slip covers on the sofa, Baked bread,( the TWG recipe) Made dinner and we had people over so I had a bit of cleaning to do as well. Alex had a girl friend over to spend the night Saturday so she was beat and went to bed at 6. Hope she is able to sleep through the night tonight. It is nice and cool and we have the windows open. Think I'll crawl into bed soon and work on a rug.

Heather, praying for you dMIL. I know what it is like to have an elderly parent and be so far from them, so I'm glad your Dh was able to drive to see her.
Mustang, Praying you have a safe and quick time with the huricane.

    Good Monday morning everyone!!

We are getting major thunderstorms here this morning. The rain is coming down like crazy!

This morning is schoolwork with Dylan, laundry and pop a cake in the oven. Delaney is home sick, bad cold and her asthma. Will need to go out this afternoon to get some medicine.

I am changing rooms around here. Our computer/school room is becoming our diningroom and the computer is going out into the kitchen/porch area. This is going to take some time but I am starting on it today. Our kitchen table is in the kitchen now but where it is I would like an island. The dining room is a room just off the kitchen and I will have my china cabinet, the table and chairs, another cabinet for dishes/cookbooks etc., and I'll also be able to hang some pictures that I have that I haven't put up since we moved here 3 years ago!

Thank you CJ, Michelle and slowtypinwoman for your prayers and concerns. DH came home late last night and things aren't that great, dmil DID have a heart attack on Saturday evening and they will find out today the extent of the damage. If the damage was too extensive there is nothing they can do , if it wasn't that bad then they will go another route, probably a pacemaker. I am praying so hard right now for the best possible thing for dmil.

Danielle~you are in my prayers, please stay safe!!

Danielle ~ stay safe, you'll be in my thoughts and prayers

Heather ~ more prayers and good thoughts for your mil

Well it was a busy weekend. Ds#2 and dd were doing first aid duty at two hockey games. Now that hockey season started, most weekends they will be busy first aiding the two local teams.

Dh found some work for two days last week and today. This is an answer to prayers so we don't get behind in our bills.

This morning I got the kids started on their school work and now I need to get busy. Today I want to get the laundry finished, bake muffins and bread, make and freeze breakfast burritos, and can some pickled beets.

If there's time I need to get some yard work done before the snow starts flying. Sunday I was talking to a friend and she told me that her husband was hunting about 30 minutes out of town and it was SNOWING!!

Hope everyone has a great day!

OOHHH! Strawberry! you are in trouble, saying the "S" word so early in the season. LOL
Today we have the school girls softball game to go to. It is at the park and I know it's un-American but I hate all sports but mostly baseball.I will take the puppies and walk them one at a time. i should be able to get in a couple 2/3 miles.Since the house is mostly clean when we come home i'll do some laundry ant then a bit of rugging.
That's about all on this homestead.

I love the weather change. I am glad it isn't as hot as it has been. It is cool enough for a sweater in the mornings, but warm in the afternoon.

Last night we had to take Chris into the ER. He was bent over and couldn't sit up because of lower abdomen pain. They thought it was either the onset of appendicitis or a virus. I am hoping it is just a virus. They told us to watch him and if the pain continues to bring him back. He said he it still hurts and he has an appointment tomorrow with his dr.

Besides work and helping the kids with their homework, not much else has happened here today.

I know I should be sleeping, but its one of those nights where I'm not ready for bed yet. I'm tired, but feel like typing away here.

I was busy on the homestead today. Dh got the new job, so starting on the 22nd, he will only have 5 mins. to travel to work. But it means a much stricter budget and being even more frugal. Well worth it though to have him happy. So I was working on the budget!!

I baked bread today along with buns. Washed 5 loads of clothes. I'm finally caught up with all the laundry. Dd is here for a bit, so I washed all the clothes she brought with her over the weekend. I finally finished it all!!!

Tomorrow is another day, so I'll close here now. Hope everyone is staying safe from bad weather.
