Exclamation Down on the Homestead - Sept. 21 - 27th

Morning all, its a start of another week. Its raining here this morning which is great for our farmers, along with the trees and my perennials. Want them to get enough rain to survive the winter. The leaves are turning color here really fast, although many of the trees have already lost their leaves during our drought.

Today should be a day of rest, but I think I'll do some baking. Will see how I feel a bit later.

I purchased more quilting material yesterday, all on sale. I washed it and then pressed it last night. I want to start another quilt, so I think I'll go through my quilting books and see what pattern I want to try. Once chosen, then I'll start cutting later today.

Dh has cut more ornaments for me to paint so I'll probably do a bit of that as well.

    Not much happening here today.

Afternoon to all. It has been raining all morning. It looks like it will continue throughout the day.

I am making homemade bread today as we are almost out of bread. I don't want to go to the store and buy any when I can make it at home. I also put on a big pot of stew. We can take left overs for lunch and freeze the rest for another meal. I always make enough to get 2 meals out of.

Dakota's birthday is today. He has sat around most of the morning sad because he didn't think we had him any presents or cake. We surprised him with it this afternoon. He WAS surprised!

I have finished all the laundry for the weekend. YEAH! Sometimes I think I will never catch up.

That's the buzz on the homestead today.

    Happy birthday Dakota

Today I was supposed to go to the Phillies game with DH, but I couldn't get anyone to watch the kids. He found someone else to take, and the kids and I went to church instead.

I hung out 2 loads of laundry and cleaned out the refrigerator. The baby has been VERY busy today, so she's not letting me get much done. She wants everyone to play with her today.

I have to go start dinner, and maybe take some ebay pictures. I've been feeling very tired the last few days, but I have no idea why. Maybe because the baby keeps getting me up at 5:00 a.m.

One of the nurses at work got fired on Friday, but I don't know why. I guess they'll tell us tomorrow. I hate when that stuff happens, I'd rather not know the gory details.

The weather is cloudy and in the 70's. I'm hoping my laundry will dry by the time I take it down in an hour.

Just a boring day on my homestead, lol.

Wow ! I have been a real slug today. I did manage to get a bit of laundry done and baked some cookies, proceeded to eat six!!! Think I'll work on some Christmas crafts this evening. I'm not cooking dinner tonight, it's the cook night off. So whatever the fam can find, they had better eat quick before someone else snatches it up! Have a good frugal day all.

Well the chili pepper curtains are all finished. There are even two big fake chili peppers pinned to each side of the cirtain. It was dh's idea and he was so cute about it that I did it even tho it looks ugly and I hate it, its his homestead too right? (Help me out here). Anyway, I am gonna spraypaint all the light switch covers and outlet covers bright red to add a little color to the room and still have to get to that before THURSDAY

Thursday is the first day of the Fall quarter and new classes start. I have to juggle somethng around to retak that math class, but thanks to everyone's faith in me Im back in the saddle again!

Cooked hamburger helper for dinner and a couple cans of dressed up green beans. Made muffins, they were terrific.

My brother is still here and not doing anything for himself. Here I am with so much on my plate that I can't take on anymore and it is like having another kid in the house.

THE BOYS CLEANED THEIR ROOM! I mean they really cleaned it. I told dh about that article Sara posted about a shop vac v. an expensive home vac and that got him to thinking I guess, cause he went to the garage and came back with the super dupre shop vac in hand and vacuumed the whole room. It is so clean in there I would invite company in there ! Wow, I feel great about that!

    Have a great week homesteaders~!

Good Monday morning everyone. It looks like its going to be a nice sunny day so I plan on washing clothes and hanging them outside this morning. Yesterday it rained for most of the day which is great, everything is starting to turn green again. So nice to see.

I also need to bake bread today and I found a new banana muffin recipe, so I'm going to try it. If it turns out good, I'll post it here.

This is the last week dh has to travel 2 hrs. each day to work and back. I'll be praying that the week goes good for him, considering his miserable boss isn't going to be too happy about dh leaving. I can hardly wait until the weekend, knowing that this job is over for him and knowing he'll be home most days at around 3 p.m.

It looks like the cat we rescued from the dump is having kittens so I need to do some reading on that. Not what we wanted but she must have been pregnant before we brought her home. She is really getting big!!! This will be a whole new experience for us, but the kids are thrilled.

Need to get Christmas ornaments painted as well today.

Going to be a busy day on the homestead here.

Well it's 3 in the afternoon and I'm enjoying a beautiful fall day. I was sitting reading a book and stopped to watch the leaves gently falling from the trees.

Yesterday we had a family with 7 children come over for lunch. We had such a wonderful time with this family we had never met before. My dh and the father of this family have met and thought we should get our families together. The children who range in ages from 1 month to 17 years old are incredible people. They were all a joy to be around. I hope we continue to develop friendships with this family.

Today I haven't been feeling the greatest so I've rested most of the day. I did 3 loads of laundry, took the dog for a walk, worked on some Christmas cross-stitching, and read a book. It's been an enjoyable day.

Dh received a phone call this morning about a few days of potential work so he's gone to a meeting. The dks have finally finished their school work. Now we're going to watch a movie before I get supper going.

That's all the news here. Have a great day!

Today was a work day, but I managed to get 1 load of laundry hung out and dried. It was a large load, so it was almost like 2 loads. It took up all of my lines.

We're expecting heavy rain tonight into tomorrow. I'll probably do 1 load of laundry for the dryer tomorrow. It's towels anyway.

I made dinner, and ran DD to band practice. I have to go back to CVS to pick up another Prednisone RX for Raechel. Her asthma has been so bad, but it's finally loosening up. I have coupons for some deodorant, so it will be .50 after sale and coupons. Then off to watch the band practice for a few, and pick up Ashlee when she is done putting all the equipment away.

When I come back, I think I'll just take a relaxing shower, and maybe read the new Reader's Digest that came today. It was a free gift subscription from my mom .

Hope everyone had a great day!

    Hi ladies!

Today was a busy day on the homestead. Baked biscuits and made peach jam this morning. Did lots of laundry and got our clothes ready for funeral back home tomorrow.

Had pork roast, potatoes and peas for supper, smelled so good cooking! Peaches and mini donuts for desert.

After supper DH and I went up to the complex to help set up for our fall fair this weekend. Took about 2 hours. Looks good. I will be helping out on Friday and taking things down later on Saturday.

Will be away tomorrow, wishing everyone a wonderful few days!!

Good morning everyone. Its partly sunny, partly cloudy here so not sure what the weather is going to do today.

I need to fold clothes from yesterday and put them away. I was able to dry them all outside, it was windy enough and they dried quickly.

I didn't get the bread done yesterday, so will do it today. I made the muffins last night and they were really good. I'll post the recipe later.

I need to do more painting today. I'm slowly getting the ornaments done. I also put varathane on 3 clocks.

Going to start getting the m/bedroom ready to insulate. Its the last room in the house, but the biggest one to do. Hopefully we can get it done within the next few weeks.

    Thats the buzz here today.

    Hi ladies!

Today has been busy so far. The dks did their school lessons late last night and early this morning so I've already finished marking. Laundry is finished for the day, the bathroom is clean, muffins are made, a my menu for the next two weeks is finished, and we're getting ready for lunch.

This afternoon dd babysits and ds wants to go out with dh so it looks like I'll get some quiet alone time soon. I think I will work on some cross-stitching and maybe read a book.

Tonight the dks have their clubs so I'll being running everyone around. I'll probably visit the library while I wait for the dks.

Dh had two more hours of work this morning for a travel agent. We're very thankful for any work that has been coming his way. In the month and a half that he has been unemployed he has been able to make just enough to pay the bills. I am also thankful that I have learnt to have a well-stocked pantry. I've only spent $35 on groceries for the last month and half.

This week I really need to get outside and get some clean up done before the snow flies. We've had frost a few time and this morning it was enough that ds#1 had to find the scraper and scrape the windshield before going to college.

    That's all the buzz here

Good morning on this dull, windy, very cool morning. Its only suppose to get to 8+C today and not much better tomorrow. We still haven't put the heat on, but its getting close!! Tonight the temperatures are suppose to drop to -3C. Will see how cold that is.

    Michelle, thinking of you today.

Strawberry, praying your dh finds a full time job soon.

Today, I'm not sure what I'll be doing. There are a couple things I want to get done. I need to go downtown and pick up the mail as I didn't get it yesterday.

Once I get back, I need to do more painting on the ornaments, but I also need to bake bread again. I found a new recipe and it turned out great, doesn't need the second rise and only need to bake it for 20 minutes. I want some stored up for when I'm gone to visit my mom.

Need to bring out the vaccuum and vaccuum as well and need to clean the bathroom.

Not much happening on the homestead right now.

    Hi everyone!

Today was definitely a lazy day. Dylan did his schoolwork and then we went to town to return a few items, get potatoes that were on sale for .97 cents/10 pounds, bought three mums for the front of our house (going to make a little display with mums, straw, pumpkins, gourds etc.) and picked up a bunch of boxes at the liquor store (very sturdy) for books.

Tonight I am getting the house back together, we weren't even home yesterday and it got messy, how does that happen!!

It is very cool here today too and windy. I looked at the thermostat too CJ and I just can't do it, I just can't, my nose is freezing so I went upstairs and put on warmer socks and a shirt under my sweater!!

Well Dh has finally started the house painting. It was blue with white trim. He is primering it with some white primer. The blue shows through and now it looks kind of silver. I am so excited. As many of you know this was my parents house and many of the neighbors were living here when I was a child and regularly call it my parents house! Not that I mind really, but i just want it to reflect me and my family now. It has never been light brown that I know of, for today it is silver and I am thankful for that. I am taking pictures of the progress on a disposable camera, so when it is done I will post before and afters.

Thats it on this homestead, for today anyway!
