What did you learn from your gardening this year?
Gardening is pretty much over for the year. What did you learn from gardening this year?
I learnt when its dry, you need to water almost every night.
I learnt not to plant more than a couple of "phlox" together because they really SPREAD!!!
I learnt you can transplant perennials both in spring and fall, and that it depends on the perennial, but most will survive no matter what time you transplant them.

I learned that when you have a baby in the spring, you can forget about getting much gardening done!

I learned that petunias will take several days of not being watered and still bloom, but they get very tall and skinny that way. Next year I'll keep them watered better.
I also learned that cable repair men have no qualms about trampling my tomato plants.
Next year we'll be leaving a path to the cable box on the house, just in case it's needed again.

I learned that during water shortages weeds still grow.
I learned that my best gardens are the ones I have vicariously through my friends.

I learned:
- not to bother planting when we've had a flood in the spring- most of my garden did not do well since we planted to late. I wasted a lot of seed.

I learned that it does NO good, to tell the "Real Gardener" that he plants things much too close together! & then wonders why everything looks so messy. Oh well "The Brains" of this outfit will try again next year.
Have to give Hubby his due though...he sure can make things grow.

I learned that I can work on my house OR have a garden, not both.
I learned that 3 weeks that your tiller is broken is all it takes for the weeds to take over.
I learned that I really miss not having a garden in the summer.
I learned that you have to get the squash bugs early and put sevin dust at the base of the plant.
