Down on the Homestead - Oct. 5th - 11th
Good morning at the start of another week. Its warm and sunny here already and suppose to get to +24C which I don't mind at all. No furnace again which is great towards the heating bill.
Today will be a day of rest after I get a few things done. I need to get last night's dishes washed and put away. I also need to iron the material that I got yesterday. I washed it all and hung it out to dry and its ready now to press.
After I've done that, I plan on painting, reading and quilting - all fun things to do. Dh will take the kids to the park later, so I'll have some quiet time to myself (love that).
Thats the buzz here this morning.

Goooooooood Moooooooooornng!!!!!
Well the kids had company last night and all three boys are still alseep. I have a load in the washer and a kitchen to clean up. It DS#1's turn but I need some of the stuff cleaned to make dinner later! DH told him he could wait to clean until after his company left, and we aren't sure when that will be! He is a great young man and a joy to have around so it will be a while!
Haaaaave a great Sunday!!!!

Good evening. It has been pouring down rain today. Dakota and I were at Wal-Mart and were running through the parking lot trying to get out of the rain. LOL! I made him take his shoes off and run barefoot because he had flip flops on and I didn't want him to slip and fall. It is so heavy you couldn't see in front of you at times.
DH worked on fixing flats on bicycles this afternoon. Now everyone is up and riding again. He got it finished before the rain began.
Chris has a science project due Tuesday of a plant cell. We worked on it together and finally got it finished.
I haven't done alot of cleaning today because the boys did alot yesterday and I did most of the laundry yesterday as well. I have done 1 load today.
Well, I guess another week is amongst us. Before you know it the year will be over.
Hope everyone has a great week on their homestead.~*Michelle*~

Another day to look at fallen leaves and all the beauty surrounding us. The leaves are in full color right now and are so pretty. It won't be long before they are all gone, but for now I'm enjoying it out in the country.
Today I plan on washing bedding and a load of towels. Will hang out to dry. Its never ending washing clothes, isn't it.
I'll be doing more painting and then tonight I'm working on the tutorial (quilting) so that I can get the final pictures developed on the weekend.
I also need to get a couple blocks made for the charity quilt from the village quilters. Now that I see what blocks are coming, I can find some block patterns to match. I can hardly wait to get it together once the blocks get here.
I also need to go through the freezer and see whats left. Will be getting a full pig in a couple of weeks (free). Gotta love that and dh's new job. But it will take up most of my freezer so I need to see whats left in there and re-arrange things.
Thats the news here.

Good evening. The weather was nice today. It rained most of the morning, but it is cool now.
I worked late today, plus I went in early. I am trying to make up 4 hours that I can use for comp time on Monday, the 13th. There is no school for the kids, but we have to work until 11:30 if we have comp time. I plan to have mine by then.
I went to pick up Chris today from football practice and noticed the pecans are starting to fall from the trees. In another week I will be up there with my bag in hand filling it with free pecans. I will be stocked for those pecan pies!
DH came home from work early today because his employer is over-budgeted. They have to make up the financial difference somewhere, so they are sending their employees home. He worked 6 1/4 hours. That is better than nothing I guess. I guess we better start pinching those pennies a little tighter.
Well that's the buzz here.~*Michelle*~

Good morning, I'm late this morning. As I sit here though, there is a woodpecker on my windowsill. It looks like a baby one and doesn't know its not suppose to peck the bricks.
Really cute little guy.
Today I'm not doing much. I'm doing more painting, its a never ending job at this time of the year, especially with craft sales coming up. I'm getting up there, but still lots to go yet.
I needed to order come clock parts and did that.
Dh had to be at work at 5 a.m. this morning, so when he gets home he'll probably want to have a snooze. If he does, I'll take the kids into the library and pick up a few things I need at the store.
Thats the news here, not much happening right now.

Good morning! Cj, you must be sending the nice weather this way. We are getting some warmer temperatures and SUN!!!
Today I am house cleaning. I moved around the living room (see, I couldn't be content with just changing the diningroom!!
) I am washing all the curtains downstairs and the covers that go over the couch and loveseat.
Must go out and water my mums, they are looking bit dry.
This afternoon, ds#1 has his first physiotherapy appointment (long time getting in) so will be picking him up from high school early.
Tonight I am going through my bedroom closet and checking on Christmas gifts I have in there and sorting!
Have a wonderful day!!

Good morning Heather and everyone to follow. Yes, I've sent you the warm weather. Hang on, theres more coming. It is Indian summer here and everyone is enjoying it. Were to have another warm day here again today. Gotta love it at this time of the year.
Today I need to get some baking done. The kids and company ate the last of the zucchini bread, so I plan on making more today. I'll also bake up a batch of applesauce muffins and put those in the freezer.
Our couch goes today to finally get fixed, so I'll do some major cleaning in the living room, starting today. Might even get some plastering done.
I also need to do more painting. The numbers are steadily crawling upwards, but with 3 sales, I still need more. I'm getting tired of painting angels, but they are always the big seller.
Right after lunch, I also need to give a second coat to the ceiling in dh's workshop. It was pretty dark in their and he asked if I had any white paint to lighten the ceiling up a bit and see if it made it any better to see. He has lots of lighting in their, but with scrollsawing, the lines are so fine, he was having a bit of trouble seeing them all. Actually so was ds#1.
Thats the buzz here today.

Good morning CJ!
I think Courtney picked up a bit of a cold, so I'll be homebound today.
I put up another set of pantry shelves in the basement, and moved my inventory around. I'm busy stocking up for the long winter months, so I can do minimal shopping. Winter is very tight money wise for us.
While I was in the basement, I threw away 2 contractor size bags of trash/junk, plus 2 kitchen sized bags of trash. I have some more stuff to find homes for and a bunch of stuff for the thrift shop, but will have to do that another day.
Laundry is hanging, although it is not moving. I hope it all dries. Hung out 3 loads today!
I guess I'll tidy upstairs while Courtney is napping.
Kind of gloomy today, but it is supposed to go up to 76 degrees. I guess we're having indian summer too, lol.
Have a wonderful day.

Good morning! Foggy on the homestead today!
Hung out some laundry and waiting for the socks and underwear to come out of the dryer. I have yesterday's laundry to put away.
DH left me a huge pile of mending, so I need to tackle that today.
I would like to make a pot of soup for the freezer today. I'll leave some out for DH if he ever eats here again. He has been working every night after his regular job for nearly 3 weeks now. He is so tired. He really needs this vacation.
I may take some of the frozen apple pie filling and make a pie today, too.
The fruit flies are driving me nuts. I have to pick up some cider vinegar today to get rid of them.
That's the buzz today!

Good morning everyone. Another great day here, with warmer than normal temperatures. All kinds of weather records are being broke in our province, gotta love that for this time of the year.
Today I need to give the final coat of paint on the workshop's ceiling. It sure has brightened it up in there. In the new year, I plan on painting the walls white has well, but for now the ceiling has made a huge difference. Dh is so happy with it.
I need to fold clothes from yesterday and get them put away.
Painting is once again on the agenda, I didn't get many done yesterday. Seemed like I was on the go almost non-stop.
Danielle, I'm making a pot of soup today as well. We had some left over chicken and a left over ham bone, so I'll throw it all in together, throw some barley and beans in along with some tomatoes and I'll have a pot of soup.
I'm looking at re-arranging me sewing room, so I'll do that later this evening when its a bit too dark to paint.
Thats the buzz here.

Good afternoon ladies. The weather here is pouring down cats and dogs. Well, rain. The streets are flooding. Chris was suppose to play football tonight, but they have already cancelled the games. Thank goodness.
I need to figure out what we will eat for supper now since I was planning on eating at the game. I am school/work and can't get home to thaw anything.
Not much will be happening on the homestead tonight. I just want to relax and enjoy the quiet evening.~*Michelle*~

This morning Dylan had an appointment in town first thing. We went to the Amish store after where I needed to pick up some dish cloths, some clothes pins and honey and then on to the general store where I got a free bag of rice, 20 kg.!!! Yeah!! Can you imagine, there was a tear at the top of the bag and therefore couldn't sell it and since there is only the two of them the owner wondered if I wanted it. We also stopped at the local apple orchard and got 20 pounds of courtland and macintosh apples.
This afternoon Dylan is doing his work and I am doing some baking. Then off to pick up dd at school and then get her haircut.
I'll be out in the garden tonight.

Good morning everyone. Its not even light here yet and I'm up. Good gravy, must have went to bed to early last night.
Dh wasn't feeling well, but hes gone for coffee already, so he must be feeling better.
Its his weekend off, so I'm not sure what we have planned yet for today. I do need to go into the city to get some pictures developed, but whether that will be today or not, I'm not sure yet.
I finished painting the ceiling last night in dh's workshop and then dd and I painted a couple of the walls as well. It was fun watching her paint. Funny though, I had paint all over me, she had none on her.
We were going to go for a picnic yesterday afternoon, but it got so late, we decided to do it later today.
Thats the buzz around my homestead for today. I may come back later.
