Reporting from down on the Homestead - Oct 19 - 25th
Its a wonderful, sunny morning this morning. Its suppose to be warm again today which I'm not complaining about at all for this time of the year. Last year at this time we had some snow and much colder weather.
I took yesterday off as my day of rest, so today I need to do a few things around here. I need to clean the bathroom and go over the kids rooms a bit. Dd keeps her room pretty good, but ds is another story.
I plan on baking some applesauce muffins later, and then getting some things ready for our trip tomorrow into Winnipeg.
Other than that, I may go for a long walk as soon as dh gets home if our weather stays like this.
Have a great day down on your homestead.

Rainy here in Upstate NY. I've got a bushel of apples I'm working on putting up- making applesauce and slicing the rest for the freezer. Then when the urge to make apple crisp or a pie strikes- the hard part is done! I'm also working on my dining room re-do- I've painted the walls and trim, and am working on painting new molding. I'm also painting all of the furniture white, which is a totally new look for me. The walls are a soft sage green, the trim is white, and the curtains are a plain white sheer, with a valance that is a black backround with white magnolia blossoms and green leaves. This is going to look so pretty with the white furniture!!

It's a warm day here today. I haven't done much cleaning except for laundry and dishes.
DH nd I took a drive to town and got some free items.
I helped Richard with his homework. Chris is finished with his and Dakota had to read.
The boys have been in the back field shooting targets. I think they are getting ready for deer hunting.
Chris mowed the lawn.
What a great kid he is!
We are eating leftovers for supper. I had made a huge pot of soup and there was plenty for today as well. DH went to reheat it.
That is all the buzz here on the homestead.~*Michelle*~

Good afternoon ladies. Well its another wonderful day here, with warm temperatures and I'm loving it. I'm hoping this last for awhile, because I don't have to have the furnace on, and thats a good thing.
Yesterday we were in the city all day, so I didn't get anything done and didn't post to this thread.
Today, I'm lazing around a bit as I'm tired from the long trip. But I did get 4 loads of clothes washed and hung outside to dry. I also have gotten some oraments painted and a couple of pkgs. ready to put in the mail.
I'm also working on the tutorial later tonight and going to be doing a bit on the charity quilt.
Thats the buzz on the homestead.

It was a very warm day here today. You could have worn shorts. The weather here is crazy. Of course there was no breeze blowing either, so I had to close the windows and turn on the a/c.
Dakota's allergies have been bothering him alot lately. He can't stop sneezing morning or night. He has been on meds trying to help, but nothing is helping yet.
I haven't done much around the house today except dishes and supper. I did wash Chris' practice shirt by hand and hung to dry. Didn't want to waste water on a half a load of laundry, so did it by hand instead.
DH went to a fire dept. meeting.
That is about all that is happening on the homestead today.~*Michelle*~

Well its now evening and the day is almost over. Its been a busy sorta day here, with painting Christmas ornaments and getting them sanded. I'm finished painting for this craft sale, now I need to tag everything and price it.
I put some deer steak in the oven for supper tonight. Its great to have supper that costs so little when you have free meat. Our pig will be ready in a couple weeks, so the freezer will be filled up again. I plan on making sausage myself with deer meat we get this year, and some head cheese with the pig we get. These are two of his favorite foods.
I need to get some muffins baked in a few minutes. The kids love having them for breakfast in the morning.
Have a load of clothes to fold and thats it for today's work.
Thats the buzz on the homestead.

Good Thursday morning everyone!!
Today I have lots to do:
~at least 4 loads of laundry including my bedding
~I have one more go of applesauce to make and that's it, guess what we are eating all winter
~make a trip to the post office
~pay some bills online
~TRY and finish my dining room, it has been weeks in process
I find lately I am falling into an old trap. I start one thing and don't totally finish it and move on to the next. Must get these loose ends done today.
Michelle, I hope Dakota is feeling better, allergies and asthma aren't good in this household lately either.
Carolyn, I am so happy that you are getting things figured out with the doctor and surgery is booked. Will be glad when it's all over.
Have a great day down on the homestead!

Good morning everyone. Its hard to believe its Thurs. already and it seems like I haven't accomplished much of late, except paint ornaments!!!
Today I need to do laundry and hang inside, has it looks like rain. I only have one load to wash though, so that won't take long.
I need to price ornaments and craft items all day today and tomorrow for the sale on Sat.
Somewhere in there, I have to bake bread and some muffins for the kids, along with some cookies to take with us to the craft sale. Its to far for dh and the kids to come home, so they sit in the van and read while the sale is on.
And this afternoon, I need to get outside and plant some Tiger Lily bulbs before the ground freezes and I can't plant them.
Carolyn, glad to hear that surgery is set and that it will soon be over. That is good news.

Good Saturday morning!
CJ, wishing you the best of luck at your craft sale today!!!
Today is a rainy cool day here. Leaves are falling off the trees like crazy!
DD is having a friend over today and the boys are at their bowling league, will pick them up soon. DH is out changing tires on the tractor and will be doing outside work (in the rain
) all day.
I am going to make some chocolate chip cookies and some oat delights here shortly and get a chicken out of the freezer for supper. Laundry is calling my name again, all the kids bedding needs done.
I plan on washing the kitchen floor and doing some dusting, missed last week and it sure does need it.
Will remember tonight before bed to turn the clocks BACK. Yeah for the extra hour sleep!
Have a great day on your homestead!!

Good luck with the sale CJ! I hope it goes great for you. I know you have worked hard.
Today is calling for cooler temps and some rain. I am welcoming the cooler weather because the last 3 days have been in the 90's again. The high should be in the 60's today. That is a big change.
I need to change the bedding today and do some other laundry. The floors need to be done as well. Dusting...oh my, I really need to do that.
DH has to work today and I am taking him lunch. When he gets home we will be going over to my dad's house so he can repair my window in the car. Thursday the motor went out in the power window. UGH!! I had it down and couldn't get it up and my dad got it up for me. Thank goodness he is also a mechanic! We bought the part last night and he is going to put it all back together for me.
Well, that is the buzz here on the homestead.
Hope you have a great day!~*Michelle*~

Well its late here, but most of you know by now we did have a successful craft sale. Thanks for all your well wishes, prayers and good thoughts.
We woke up to snow on the ground this morning and much cooler temperatures and its suppose to be -9 C tonight. The furnace is now on. The weather is suppose to stay cool now for the next while.
We left early this morning and didn't return home until later tonight, but I did wash a load of clothes when I got home and hung them on the clothesracks to dry.
I worked at making a list of things I have to do this coming week, need to get some pkgs. in the mail for sure and do some baking as well.
Thats the buzz here. A new week tomorrow.
