Exclamation Down on the homestead - Nov. 2 - Nov. 7th

Good morning everyone.   Its cool here and we have lightly fallen snow.    I have the heat turned down, but can't go much lower.      UGH!!   I do love winter, but not quite this early.

Today is going to be a day of rest.    I took the whole afghan apart last night because I had made a mistake and it was bugging me.    So instead of 15 rows I only have 3 rows done.      This time I want to make sure its right.

Later I'll work on the charity quilt and get the sashing done.

Other than that, I'm making this a day of rest.

    Good morning!

Day of rest here too! Going to church here soon and I have lunch in the crockpot. This afternoon I will be helping DH get his things ready for tomorrow. He is starting a new job, still on the road but a different company.

I want to make apple dumplings for dessert tonight. My Mom always makes them and the kids love them. I got a bushel of apples yesterday for $6.00 and want to try them out!

Today is rainy and cooler and weather channel says rain all week.

    Good morning!

It's very chilly here too. There was heavy frost on the windshield this morning and I had to warm the van for almost 10 minutes. They're forecasting -18C here this week. No snow just cold weather.

Today is rest day for us too. Besides dropping kids off and picking them up later, I plan on reading and working on some Christmas crafts. We're having sandwiches for lunch and left over chili for supper so I don't even need to cook today. This evening the kids want to play games so that will most likely happen. Maybe we'll pop popcorn and light some candles.

That it for here. Have a relaxing day!

Good afternoon from our Texas homestead. It is 78 degrees here and we just had some rain showers pass over. It was a welcomed surprise.

I have a load of laundry to wash and hang on the drying rack and that should be all I need to do for today.

I have chicken going for supper.

I cleaned off the front porch and the did some minor repairs to the outside of the house.

DS#1 mowed. Good thing he did it early before it rained.

I hope you have a great day on your homestead.

Good morning.    Its going to be a very cold day here, with the sun already peaking out and the skies clear.    It was -24C here last night and as of right now, -20.     Had to plug the van in last night - UGH!!!

Its going to be a busy day here.    I need to wash a couple of loads of clothes and get them hung inside to dry.    I think I'll also wash our bedding and hang the sheets on the line to dry (freeze).

I need to get some grain ground up and bake some bread.    I also need to grind soft grain so that I can make up a couple batches of cookies and put some in the freezer.

Along with that, I need to varathane a number of craft items and then start painting ornaments gain today.

Have to pick up the mail, but I'm waiting until dh gets home.   Then I'll take the van, just too cold to walk and I don't like leaving the kids when the furnace is on.

Hope everyone has a good one on your homestead.

It was the beginning of a new work week for me. It was a good day. Two kids went home sick from our class.

The weather has been nice today. It was cool this morning, but warmed up this afternoon with a little rain shower.

I started some beans in the slow cooker this morning so they would be ready when we came home. They were! DH gets home 30 minutes before me and he made some cornbread to go with them. Yummy! We have enough left over for another meal.

DH picked Chris up from football practice. They only have one more football game left and it is this Thursday night. Then he will start practicing for basketball.

While the cornbread was cooking, I did the floors real quick. Swept and mopped.

I have also changed the cat litter.

Hope you all have a great day on your homesteads.

    Good Tuesday morning!

School work this morning with Dylan along with some bedding to wash.

This afternoon we are reorganizing the pantry/laundry room. Somehow outside "tools" have made their way to my shelves!

We are getting rain here with high winds.

I am going to work on my wall hangings today (Christmas gifts) and I need to do the neverending laundry pile today. Other than that I don't have a lot on my to do list.

I am making smoked sausage in BBG sauce and french fries for supper so that will be an easy one. I think I will throw them in the crock pot this afternoon so that will make it even easier.

Good morning everyone. Its snowing here, albeit lightly. Everything is covered in a blanket of snow.

I do need to get some painting done today, but other than that I don't have a lot to do today. I got lots done yesterday.

I will probably bake some chocolate chip cookies later this afternoon.

    Have a good day everyone!!

Today was one of those days where you want to crawl back into bed and start the day over.

The weather is starting to get cooler.
I can't wait until we can finally pull put the sweaters to wear.

Made dinner in the crockpot again today. I wanted it to be ready by the time the kids and DH got home cause I was going to be late.

DH went to a fire meeting tonight.

I had a dr.'s visit today. I guess it went well.

My kids are driving me crazy. DS#1 and 2's school emailed me today to tell me they were having concerns with both of them. UGH!! Dakota just got kicked off the bus last week and can finally ride again tomorrow! I am about to go crazy with these kids. Why was I the chosen one? I know they are smart kids, they are just choosing the wrong choices.

Well, that's how the day went on our homestead. I hope you had a great day!

Good morning everyone. Everything is covered in fresh fallen snow and its so pretty outside. Its dull here, so I'm thinking were probably going to get some more snow today.

Today I need to get some things done. I need to fold clothes and then wash another load of darks. I'll hang them up on the clothesracks.

I just realized I have one loaf of bread left, so I'm going to have to bake bread as well, either today or tomorrow.

I need to get some painting done on Christmas crafts (I did nothing yesterday). I only have a few weeks before our last craft sale.

We get our free pig on Friday, so next week will be busy cutting and wrapping, so I need to get everything done in the next couple of days that needs doing.

Good morning! We managed to bring a stomach virus home from Florida. Courtney had it on the way home from Georgia. Now Raechel and I have it. I got a mild case of it, thankfully from working at a doctor's office (built up immunity). I still feel yucky.

I'm trying to at least do the laundry today, if nothing else. Courtney just went down for her nap, I think I'll join her.

It's still Indian summer here, too, but that will change tomorrow. I miss the 85 degree Florida weather already!

I have to go out to get Ashlee a shirt for her marching band tshirt. She needs it tonight for practice.

I'm going to take it easy today. Have a nice day!

Thank you CJ! I needed that. Things are better today. I talked to the middle school and we got alot of things taking care of. It was very positive.

Today we sent another child home in our room with 102.8 fever. The flu is really starting to get around here fast. Alot of kids are missing because of it.

Came home from work and took a nap with DH. Chris took one too. I guess we were just wore out.

Did a load of laundry and hung out on the drying rack. DH helped with supper. I need to go do the dishes and clean the kitchen, but I am trying to watch the CMA awards at the same time as reading and posting here.

I hope you are having a great day on the homestead.

It is getting very cold here and we are expecting light flurries over night! The kids are happy, not me, not yet!!

I took a box and a bag of things to the consignment shop today so it'll be nice to see some $$ in a few weeks and I am going to put the money I make at the shop into my emergency fund. Dropped off BAGS of "stuff" at the Salvation Army as well. Nice to get rid of it. The house feels lighter! I did some grocery shopping while in town (this is the town that is about 25 minutes away but has a great grocery store with lots of LOW prices) I stock up when I go there. Took awhile to put everything away.

Kody had therapy for his wrist/arm later this afternoon and Delaney had skating lessons. Got home, put pork chops in the oven (forgot to put in CP), cut up potatoes and carrots. Kids had icecream for dessert, a treat!

Tonight I'm going to be moving a bookshelf upstairs to put in Delaney's room and organizing it.

Well its been a busy sort of day here. I ground some grain this morning and got bread and buns made. I did some painting of ornaments and I'll sand a few later tonight.

We went into the city as soon as dh got home and I used up my $100 gift certificate I won. It was so much fun shopping, knowing I wasn't going to have to pay when I got to the till. I even got a few goodies I wouldn't normally have purchased. The kids liked their gummie bears (which I forgot to post on my list).

Tonight I'm play with the computer and the kids are watching Finding Nemo, which I purchased for them when we were in the city. They are thrilled and I hear them laughing, so it must be pretty funny.

Tonight its suppose to be -32C with the windchill factor, so will be bundling up good. Tomorrow moring, first thing, dh is going to get our FREE pig and butcher it. Then its cutting and wrapping I suspect for part of the weekend.

    Have a great evening everyone.
