    Thumbs up Just ordered this book!!

    The Self-Sufficient Life and How to Live it by John Seymour. Anyone have it?

    The Self-Sufficient Life and How to Lit It is loaded with detailed illustrations and information on harvesting food, breeding livestocke, building shelter, irrigating land, generating natural power and much more. It also includes new material on organic gardening, creating urban gardens and a special section in whithe the author explains his philosphy of self-sufficiency. There are also 150 new illustrations.

    You learn how to gather honey from a swarm of bees, extracting oil from olives, raising a healthy root crop, or making fresh butter, bread, beer and wine.
    The description also goes on to say "get back to basics" with essential information on: preserving food, ethical,
    hankie environmentally sound living, creating food-producing urband and community gardens, saving energy using natural sources and moderal materials and learning essential crafts and skills, from pottery to metalwork.

    I can hardly wait to get it!!

    I think all the books you suggest are wonderful.Soooo I went on ebay but couldn't find one for the price I wanted to pay lol but I found this book by the same author and bid on it...Forgotten Household Crafts...Looks like it might be interesting

    I read a couple of Seymour's books before I purchased this one, but I like the Self Sufficient Life and how to Live it the Best.

    Tammy another good one is Storey's Basic Country Skills by John and Martha Storey. Its similar and has some wonderful stuff in it.
