Thumbs up Down on the homestead - Nov. 24 - 29th

Good morning everyone. I'm back from my trip and have lots to do today. Dh was good about keeping up with most stuff, but the laundry....well need I say more.

I also need to get some things packaged up and ready for the mail.

I have to get back to painting ornaments.

And I need to wash some "fat quarters" and read some new quilting magazines I found. I couldn't pass them up and thought about all of you when I was purchasing the fat quarters. Awe, but they are pretty!!!

    Have a good one everyone!!

Welcome home CJ. Enjoy those fat quarters.

Today is a cold day here. It was 26 when we woke up. I had to turn the heat on to keep the pipes from freezing up.

Dakota woke up having trouble with his asthma. I made him an appointment with his doctor. We are already back. They gave him some more meds to take and a breathing treatment. He didn't feel like going back to school after the dr.'s visit, so I just kept him home with me. I called in and they got a sub for me. I would rather stay home with him and make sure he is ok. We only have 2 days of school this week anyway, today and tomorrow. I love those short weeks.

Chris has an out of town basketball game tonight. DH has a fire chief's association meeting to attend, so I guess I will be traveling alone which is ok. Dakota will go with me. He wouldn't miss a chance to get something from a concession stand.

I still need to go through my gift closet and see exactly what I have in there. I don't want to buy anything I don't have too. I am going to get to that today.

I have 2 loads of laundry to do and breakfast dishes to wash.

I hope you all have a wonderful day on your homesteads.

Welcome back CJ, sure missed you!!

I messed up the thread, guess I should have started a new one! I moved this over:

It is pouring rain here this morning and warm. By the end of the day it is to turn real cold and we are to expect 15 cm of snow!

This morning Dylan is doing his schoolwork, Delaney is home sick. I have to run up to the feed store for chicken feed and stop at the store for some milk.

All the baking I did on the weekend is GONE......so I'm going to do a bit more this morning. This afternoon I am dusting, cleaning the wood floors and vacuming the area rugs. If I have time I will, maybe tonight, prime the bathroom...it's getting a fresh coat of paint.

Have a wonderful day on your homestead!!

Good morning everyone. Its snowing and blowing here, so hopefully we'll get a good old fashioned snowstorm.

I'm finishing up the washing this morning. I also need to fold clothes from yesterday and then hang up todays to dry.

I'm going to start decorating - not putting it off anymore. I need to see where I can come up with a few $$ so that I can start the boys room. I watched a number of decorating shows while I was gone and oooh, I got so many ideas. I need to mud the walls first, so want to do the upstairs bedrooms first to get practise for when I come downstairs.

I need to paint some snowflakes today and also get some parcels in the mail today.

I'm simplifying even more, so I need to look through the whole house and see where I can simplify even more than I have. First place I think is the kids bedrooms. I'm looking at moving my sewing room downstairs and setting up a library in the room I was using as my sewing room. All their books can then go in their, along with a couple of chairs and possibly the tv.

I'll need to bake some muffins in a few as well.

Hope everyone has a great day on their homestead.

I hope to take down the autumn decorations and to begin to put up the Winter ones this weekend. I may even put up the tree because my brother and his wife will be at our house again the first week of Dec. I have made a dent in the Christmas crafts but have got to really buckle down and get them done soon, especially the quilted ones. I am not listing anything else on ebay until after the holidays, just don't have time to deal with it and its really not being very profitable. SO is cutting more wood and working to get everything put away for winter. I have to gather a few more flower seeds now that the frost is here and they have finished blooming. Need to stock up on batteries and lamp oil for the power outages as well as some simple foods that are easily heated.

I am glad today is Tuesday. Today begins our Thanksgiving break at school. We are out until Dec. 1st. I was ready for the break!

I had to take Dakota and Chris to the dr. today for a check-up.

I need to find out what I need to take to my mom's for Thanksgiving and start packing. We are leaving tomorrow, Wed., to go spend Thanksgiving there and a few extra days. DH is going so he can go deer hunting. I sure hope he gets the bug one.

Busy day yesterday. Took Delaney to doctors and waited most of the afternoon, she is not well. She is taking much longer to get over this.

Today will be spent at home. Making homemade soup and biscuits for lunch. Doing some more decluttering of the living room. I am in the mood for changing things around. Need to go through magazines and books in there. Also am taking down a shelf that I am moving to another room.

One of the horses we have been boarding here for the summer will be going today. (board here for a three months in exchange for straw) "Summer" turned into fall!! :>( All the pasture is eaten up so we've been feeding them hay for a few months. With the extra horse we weren't sure whether we'd have enough hay for the winter. DH called owner and finally told her to come and get the horse, either that or start paying board.

Supper will be lasagna, have all the ingredients here and will make it up this afternoon.

Kody has an appointment later this afternoon in town so will run in for that.

Good morning everyone. Its beautiful outside with the trees hanging with hoar frost. I love it, its so pretty.

Today I need to do some painting of ornaments and spray a few craft items to get them ready for our sale in 2 weeks.

I've designed the boys bedroom, so now I'll see if I can design how I want dd's room today. Now its finding some extra $$ in the budget, but I'm determined to have some fun decorating this winter and to get our house looking like a home.

Not sure what will have for supper, possibly honey glazed ribs and potato salad.

Have to fold some clothes and then wash the fat quarters I purchased while I was visiting my mom. Some of the material they've got now is something else. So very pretty. I need to package up the charity quilt and put it in the mail tomorrow.

Thats the buzz here. Have a good one!!

Heather, I hope Delaney feels better soon.

Today, we will be leaving to go spend Thanksgiving with my mom and family. I need to charge the camcorder battery to take some videos. Yesterday my mom called to tell me that her brother, my uncle, has cancer. They aren't given him much time..6 months. I pray he beats the odds stacked against him as he was once at death's door before and survived. He was actually pronounced dead, but by some miracle was revived. My mom has lost her baby brother (2 years ago) and her mom and dad. She only has this one brother, me and my sister and her 6 grandchildren left. She is the oldest and is taking it pretty hard right now. I just hope another miracle happens.

I need to get the house in order before I leave. I hate coming home to a messy house.

My mom wants to go shopping on Friday. I may go with her, but I don't think I am going to buy anything. I will just go to get out of the house. DH will be deer hunting and the kids will be sleeping. My 18 year old niece who is in college will be there to watch them all.

I hope you all have a Happy Thanksgiving since I won't be on tomorrow to wish you one!

Michelle, I pray your uncle gets another miracle. Have a wonderful time with your family.

Today is going to just be painting and relaxing. I have a few homesteading magazines to read, so I'm going to let the kids watch some old fashioned movies and I'll read later.

I have to get a couple parcels in the mail today, but thats about all.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving for those who are celebrating this holiday. Heather, hope Delaney is feeling better today.

    Hi all Happy Thanksgiving.
We had a sad start to the holiday. We were to go to Omaha to see all my family but our car broke down so we thought it too risky to drive there. I was very sad and cried quite a bit last night. I haven't seen 2 of my sisters and a nephew in 3 years and I haven't been home to see my parents in nearly a year, since last Christmas.
Alex has been crying off and on since yesterday. Oh well, I guess these things happen.
So, last night we went to Wal Mart and bought a turkey and all the fixins' We thawed out the turkey and will try out our new fryer. MMMM
I think I'll take the puppies for a walk today since we haven't been able to do that for a couple weeks since the time change it gets so dark so early. Do you all do daylight savings time in Canada?
While we were at Wal Mart last night we got Alexa new pair of snow boots. She has them on now and she's excited about them.
We got our wood stove all hooked up and will build our first fire today I think. All our hard work from this summer is really paying off. The insulation has kept our heater from kicking on less than half as much as id has in past years and now we have wood heat to help even more.
I really wanted to get a generator too but at least if the power goes off this winter we will be warm while we sit in the dark. LOL
    Have a Happy Thanksgiving all!

    Good morning everyone.

Slowtypinwoman, yes we do have the time change and it upsets everyone here. It takes the kids awhile to get back on schedule and then it changes back again - UGH!!

This week I haven't gotten much done. I can't seem to get motivated. I finally had a really good night's sleep last night, so hopefully I can get back on track.

I need to do a bit more painting of Christmas ornaments. I'm just about finished for this season. I plan on painting all through the year this coming year so I don't have such a rush closer to Christmas.

Need to do some baking today and then walk to the store to get a bit of fruit.

Going to do some reading later and quilting.

Now thats another lazy day - hmmmmm oh well next week I'll get motivated again (I hope).

Thank you CJ for the get well wishes for my uncle. He goes back to the dr. Tuesday and we should know more then.

We spent Thanksgiving with my mom and family. It was fun to just sit around and visit everyone Wed. and Thursday. We all played cards and talked and laughed.

We came back home last night and I read the sales papers for Black Friday deals. I planned our adventure and we dove into it this morning at 5 am. It was fun shopping with DH. I thought we ended up with some great deals for next to nothing.

I have been doing laundry. Trying to catch up. I do have to say after we came home from shopping DH laid down to take a nap and then I did.
I guess waking up so early to shop wore us out...lol!

Hope you are all having a great day on your homestead.
