Thumbs down Mad cow disease found in the States

This has devastated our cattle industry here in Canada. It will be interesting to see what happens to the cattle industry now in the States.

Already Japan has closed the borders to any cattle coming from the States.

This is bad. My dad is a cattleman. Beef prices had gone sky high-the highest in years. He was selling cattle for double what he made last year. Now prices have gone way down. He had several to still sell this year, but now he won't get hardly anything for them.

I read today that they think they have located the source of the cow, so hopefully it won't hurt the cattle farmers to much. I'm hoping it will get better.

I was reading in the paper and they said that it is ok to buy beef still. BUT if you are still worried to buy only roast and steaks, but not Tbones as they are made from the beef closer to the spine. They said ground beef could contain it too. I guess I will only buy roast and steaks for now if I plan on eating beef.
