Thumbs up Down on the homestead, Jan 18 - 24th

Good morning everyone. Today being Sunday is rest day for me. I plan on quilting the border on my quilt and not doing much else.

Also want to get some reading done later tonight and maybe play The Farming Game with the kids this afternoon.

Its very very cold here, so we sure won't be going anywhere. Another Artic front has hit us.

Have a great day on your homestead.

    Hi Everyone,
Well what a difference 2 days make! It is only supossed to get up to 33 for the high today. I started laundry yesterday but, well, the couch called and I took a nap. So, today I will have to finish that. I want to take the puppies out on a walk today. They haven't had one in a week or so because we were busy. So that is a must! I want to get sheets and blankets washed today as well as the clothes. For dinner tonight we are having potao soup. I'd like to make so Cuban bread too, to go with it. I did manage to get the house all cleaned yesterday.
Over at the sister site CJ had started a thread to do one carft a month for next Christmas. Since we have a three day week end I'd like to get a couple started.
Have a good day everyone! Marcia

Good morning! Today is my day of rest and boy do I need it. The last 5 nights we have had unexpected company. One night the person, who did need us, didn't leave our house until 4:30am and last night I didn't get to bed til 1 am. I am exhausted! I plan on doing nothing but reading, playing on the computer, and having a nap. I love company but I've had enough!

Hope you all have a restful and enjoyable day!

Praying that our day gets better here. This morning Chris managed to spill cat litter in the van when he was getting the bag out before we were to head for church. What a mess! He and Josh vacuumed it all up. Jaysn was not thinking this morning and had to be reminded of so many things. I got out of the shower and went to get dressed just to find that the pants I needed for church today were in the washer (after I had been told they were done by our laundry dude). We were due to leave for church in 15 minutes! By this time I had a splitting headache and sent hubby and the kids to church without me. We were scheduled to greet today, so one of the twins will be filling in for me. On the flip side, I did use that pent up frustration to clean the kitchenaid kitchen center from top to bottom (the boys had not been cleaning it between uses) and it is now sparkling! It's probably a good thing everyone is gone for awhile since I'm PMSing big time and my doctor said I that stress is the cause of some of my problems.

I'm going to get something started in the crockpot for dinner. Jeff and the kids took sandwiches for lunch to eat on the way home from church. I may even take a nap today and then have hubby work on getting things decluttered in our bedroom this afternoon.

Good morning or afternoon. It is 43° here.

Today is Chris' 13th birthday! He is now officially a teenager.

Today would be a day of rest, but since being sick for 4 days this week it has turned into a day of work.

I have laundry going. There are lots and lots!! The kitchen is back in order. I hate a dirty kitchen.

I made a big cookie cake for Chris. It is cooling as I type. I just need to make up some frosting and decorate it.

Rick and Chris went to the fire station to clean and rebuild something, so they will be busy today.

Dakota is clipping coupons for me. He is a great helper.

I am going to work on decluttering my sewing room and throwing out things that we don't need or have not needed in the last 6 months.

I have several loads of laundry to do also and a load of dishes to wash.

    Have a great Sunday everyone.

Happy Birthday Chris - wishing you a wonderful, fun filled day.

Now don't tell your mom, but this is when girls can get really interesting.

Anyways you enjoy your cake. Have some for all your aunties here at the village.

    Happy Birthday Chris!!

The kids and I just had a wonderful visit with my Mom and Dad. They got here around noon and we had lunch. I made chili and potato/vegetable soup, biscuits and a birthday cake as tomorrow is Mom and Kody's birthday. I just love when they come over. Mom made up a care box of the kids favourite cereal, crackers, bars etc. The left earlier than expected as the weather is NOT nice out at all and they have a 2 hour drive. I told them they could stay which they know but they wanted to get home . I am so worried now though because I can't even see the road or the neighbours house with so much snow and wind. I told them to call the minute they got in the door!! How roles have reversed!!

I am spending the rest of the afternoon with my fabric!! I am organizing and sorting. I set up one of my sewing machines in the livingroom as I tend to get more done down stairs here than upstairs.

Have a great day and stay warm and safe!!

Happy Birthday Kody!!!! How about sneaking a piece of birthday cake for all your aunties here at the village. Just don't tell mom okay. You have a wonderful day Kody.

Good morning everyone. I'm up early this morning, just couldn't sleep. I don't have any lights on yet, so the kids should sleep another 1/2 hour or so. I love hs, because they can sleep until they are ready to wake up. Makes it much easier in the morning, especially when all 3 are night people.

Today is laundry day. I should be able to get everything washed today and hung to dry on the clothesracks. Boy I can hardly wait until I can start hanging clothes outside again. I love spring and being able to do that. The clothes just smell so fresh when they've been hung outside and allowed to blow in the wind.

On the weekend, I was doing some searches on the web for coupons. For all you Canadian gals, don't forget http://www.save.ca/ has they continue to add more and more couons. I have never seen that many for Manitoba, has I did this weekend. So I have some coupons coming from there and I also e-mailed Goodnights and pet food companies to see if I could get some coupons from them. It looks like will be keeping all the kittens (don't ask), so I needed to find coupons for their food. I may do some more searches and see what I can find for Canadians.

I also want to get the binding completely sewn up. I only have 2 sides left now on the quilt and I'd love to have it on our bed by the time dh gets home tonight. I can hardly wait to have it finished.

Along with that I need to straighten up our m/bedroom just a bit.

Hope you all have a good one on your homestead.

Good morning CJ and all the other at the village!

Today I woke up and BRRRR! My thermomerter said 0*. I have already stripped the bed and have those sheets in the washer. Today I want to get all the sheets washed and put back on the beds and work some more on my rug. Thak you CJ, for inspiring me to get off my duff! Sometimes I need a good swift kick in the rear. LOL

For lunch today we are going to have left over soup. What a day it is for that. I also want to get my hair cut and cut Alex's. She's been asking me to cut her bangs for a couple weeks now. I hate cutting my hair, but I like the way I do it better than when I go somewhere. And the price is right here too.

Well all, Have a great day on your homestead. Stay warm!

    Good morning!!

Kody says thanks!!!!! It's funny how grown up they want to be and yet when a birthday rolls around they are like a 5 year old.

It is cold, cold, cold here this morning with lots of blowing snow. The van wouldn't start, forgot to plug it in last night, got stuck in the driveway as we were off to deliver the papers and then when we got back in the house there was no hot water again!! So.......three strikes.....it should be all good news for the rest of the day, right???

I am doing the books today, need to finish up last years work and sort out some files and make my system a little more efficient. Making a trip just up to the village to pick up chicken feed, dog food, bread and milk. Laundry is swish swashing as well and hope to do three loads.

    Have a wonderful day!!
