Down on the Homestead-Feb.29-March 6
Can you believe tomorrow is March??
We are leaving shortly here for church. Haven't been in quite awhile and sure miss it. The roads are good, the sun is shining so the kids and I are heading out. The service is at 11 am and we will be going out for lunch with certificates the kids got from my parents at Valentines Day.
DH just got home late Fri. night and had to go out again early this morning. We miss him.
The boys are in need of a few shirts each so we will be shopping for those and I'm going to pick up some more fresh fruit and veggies.
The church we go to is about 25 minutes from here and is in the town where I do my major shopping. Although I don't like to shop on Sundays I was thinking of combining my trips and doing it on Sunday afternoons after church so I won't be running during the week or on Saturdays. We'd still be back home by late afternoon.
I will be putting chicken in the crockpot before I leave so supper will be ready when we get back.
Tonight I AM working on my quilting!!! Yeah!!!!!!!

Good morning everyone. No Heather, I can't believe its March. Where has Feb. gone?
Today is going to be a quiet day here. Yesterday we were stripping wallpaper (layers and layers of it), off the 2 inside walls in the boy's room. Both dh and I now have very sore arms, so we won't finish it today.
I want to get the friendship blocks done today if possible and do the yo-yo tutorial that Dee did yesterday.
I plan on getting into John Grisham's new book The Juror as well. I just finished reading The Testament and loved it.
Have a great day everyone.

I can't believe March is already upon us either. Isn't it funny how time seems to fly the older you get in life?? I guess because when you are a child you take things for granted and as you get older you start to see a different view of life.
It has been raining on and off today. Dakota went to a different church (not our home church) alone today. He rode thier church van. He said he really liked it and was all excited about it when he got home. I have alot of friends that attend the church he went to today. I didn't mind it at all. If that is what he chooses, I am ok with it.
Today I need to get my house in order. It seems to be very disorganized lately. I have been reading a book that reads: "Home is a sacred place for you and your family. Home interprets heaven. Take time to come home to yourself everyday." It teaches that it should be a relief to come home at the end of the day, close the door behind you, and find things as they SHOULD be (and always have been). Your own inner peace and happiness could be worked out by organizing our physical surroundings.
I guess I better get my surroundings in order.

What a great book Michelle! I love that thought and it is so true...when everything is in order and clean it makes us "feel" better!

Today we went to the early service at church and helped serve communion, then greeted for the second service. I really enjoy greeting people as they come in and seeing all the cute babies!!!
Jaysn drove home from Spokane and did a great job. That gives him 1 1/2 hours of driving time today
. This afternoon Dh is going to try and find the leak in the shed and fix it. The twins are cleaning their room (never ending task) and Jaysn is going through his clothes to see what is too small. I still need to cut DH's hair this evening (he did mine and the twins yesterday) so that he can once again get his work hats on (he has incrediably thick hair).
I need to work on my menu for this week. Since Jaysn does not have Driver's Ed it will make things easier here at home. As usual, we are doing laundry and really enjoying the new dryer!!!
Now if we could only get the twins to quit argueing all would be well here.

Boys arguing! I thought I'd forgotten that, but you relit that memory for me Debbie. Don't worry, it gets better. My sons, now aged 22 and 23, are the best of friends and rarely argue now.
It's 9.50am Monday morning and I've already been very active. I clipped Alice (the dog) at 6am, having done Rosie yesterday, applied their worm/flea/tick formula and now they are looking like two perfect woollen princess dogs. I've scanned and printed out some furniture information for DH for the store and vacuumed the bedrooms. I replaced the chickens' straw in their home, taking the old stuff to the compost bin and giving them new lovely stuff that they'll closely examine and stratch through for a few hours. And I've just returned from the supermarket, where I did the week's grocery shopping, and from the farmers' co-op, where I got some gardening supplies and a new hose timer. DS rammed the lawn mower into the other one and snapped it in two. It was on its last legs though, we've had it for many years and they get weak sitting in the sun all day. I bought some seeds of viola, poppy and stocks so I'll plant those up later to sit alongside the vegetable seeds I planted yesterday.
I'm trying to get up the courage to finish cleaning out and reorganising my office. I have two desks and three computers here + a huge printer and scanner. I want to get rid of most of it and make the area into a reading/computer zone. I just can't seem to get started. Grrrr @ me.
I'm making tomato relish later - the tomatoes are ready in the saucepan waiting for the other ingredients.
The weather is beautiful today. it's the first day of Autumn and there is a slight breeze of cooler wind coming through. It's very refreshing. I think I'll make a cup of tea and sit around catching up with the posts for a while.

Good morning everyone. Its a very dull morning here, not a peep from the sun. Nice temperatures though so that makes it all worth it. It actually looks like it might rain.
Wow, today is March 1st. Twenty-one days and spring is officially here. I can't wait, seems like we have had such a long and hard winter.
Dh and I are looking at making some major changes in the next 9 months, so it means upping our frugality even more. It means cutting corners anyway we can and it means getting the house finished as quickly as we can. Right now, its at the talk stage, but both of us are in agreement on what we want to do.
Today is laundry day here. I have a load already in the wash. I also need to bake bread, which I haven't gotten started yet. Along with that, I want to finish the friendship blocks and then take pictures of them before I sent them off to Chelle. I'll post the pictures here next payday.
I'm also working on granny squares and Dee would be so proud of me. I was crocheting granny squares AND watching the Oscars last night. Anything more complicated though and I wouldn't be able to do 2 things at once.
Hope everyone has a great day down on the homestead.

Happy March 1 everybody! CJ I love little things that go together mindlessly while enjoying a TV show or chatting with a friend. Those dishcloths are great, and except for the heels, socks are pretty mindless too.

Hi all!
This morning was a hectic one......ds#1 has now got the flu so back to bed he went...got dd to school and then took ds#2 to the chiropractor. He needed an adjustment badly!
I am cleaning today....I am in the mood for it so I better go with it. I've swept and mopped floors, cleaned the inside windows in the kitchen, livingroom and diningroom and put the curtains in the wash from the kitchen.
This afternoon is laundry and dusting.
I have supper in the crockpot and homemade soup made for lunch. Yum!
Have a wonderful day and I hope it's sunny where you are! I am SO enjoying this beautiful sunshine!

Goodmorning Ladies!!!
It's a beautiful day here in Eastern Washington with the sun shining brightly! There is no Driver's Ed this week, but Jaysn's friend must have forgotten and showed up here at 6:00a.m.
Poor kid, he could have slept in. We planned a trip to the library this afternoon, but then looked online and found the library will be closed for the next 2 days. Good thing we checked and saved ourselves a trip!
I have chicken tetrazinni sauce cooking in the crockpot and will add some frozen cauliflower and brocolli to the sauce about an hour before dinner to make it go further. The boys are very excited to try this. I've never made it for them before. We'll have a big salad with this and some fruit to round things out.
So far today we have got laundry going and one load done (still more to do), cleaned out the cat box, done our morning chores, taken the garbage down for pickup, and are doing our school work. I've returned several phone calls and even won a beauty product in a contest!
I still need to go through more clothes and get rid of those that I have not worn for years. No sense having them take up space around here anymore. I'm hoping to sneak in a nap later since I had a restless night and didn't get much sleep.

I hope your son is feeling better soon Heather.
Today is a beautiful day outside. It is starting to feel like spring and I love it. I can't wait to start working outdoors again.
I have some packages to mail off today, laundry to wash, and kitchen to clean. I put supper in the crockpot this morning, so it will be done when we all get home. That is a timesaver!
I have a doctor's appointment this afternoon. I am going to see if he can tell me what the pain in my side is from.
I hope you all have a great day.~*Michelle*~
