    Exclamation Onthe homefront - March 14 - 20th

Good morning everyone. Well, we got a blizzard last night and even though we only got a couple inches of snow, I could not see across to the neighbours yard. Its still very dull here this morning, so will see what happens today.

I need to bake bread today as I'm almost out and I need some for sandwiches tomorrow for when we go into Winnipeg.

Other than that, I'm taking a day of rest, where I'm just going to do some fun things. Play cards with the kids and watch movies later.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day, down on your homesteads.

    Good morning everyone!!

Enjoy your quiet day today CJ.

About the same here.....we are going to church soon and then this afternoon I will be getting DH's things ready for tomorrow. We will pick up a few movies at the church library and will watch one tonight after supper. The kids are loving these new to them movies.

I do want to bake some muffins today as well. Supper is in the crockpot and I took some bisquits out of the freezer and they'll be ready for supper.

    Have a great day!!!

Good morning. We had planned to mow the yard today, but I am waiting for the grass to dry. If not today...maybe tomorrow!

I plan to pull out all the items from under the bathroom sinks today so that I can catch up on the spring fling.

I would also like to make up some cinammon roll dough to freeze.

    Good Morning Everyone!

I'm not doing much today myself, I think all that exercise from cleaning caught up to me. I didn't sleep well last night so after Jack left this morning I went back to bed for a couple of hours.

Later on I have to go to my Mom's for dinner and cake for Dad's birthday. The whole family will be there including my older brother who we haven't seen in almost 2 years.

Mom asked if I would bring a couple of folding chairs, now I have to find where Jack stored them.

    Have a wonderful day!

Today is another cool damp day here at the Katybird homestead. I am going to be doing some laundry and doing some mending jobs that have been piling up in my sewing basket. I purchased a beautiful sweater at WalMart on the clearance rack for $2 but it has the funky wide wide sleeves, I am going to be reworking the sleeve to make it more wearable for me. I am too old to be that stylish, LOL.

I am going to get out in the motorhome today and do some cleaning and freshening to get it ready to go camping in. I hope to be able to go for a few days the week before Easter. I am taking a weeks vacation that week.

    Have a wonderful week everyone!

We're back from church and we're leaving in a few minutes to go look at a house on 1.4 acres. I'm not sure what the day holds after that - we may drive around a bit and see if we see any more for sale signs.

Hello ladies! It's still overcast here but warm at 28C.

I think I'll be working at our shop again today. DH is still sick with a cold/flu so I'll volunteer when he wakes up. It's only 5.40am now. I'd love to be staying home as I have a lot of things to do.

It's a year ago today since my sister's dh died. I'll make sure I ring her to see if she's ok. He was only 58 years old so it's left a huge gap in her life. Financially she's ok but she's still running her flower shop to stay busy.

I've been reading my Grass Roots magazines at the shop and I have a few things to post when I have more time. One is a delicious looking carrot cake recipe that is cooked in the slow cooker. The woman who wrote the recipe said the cake was very moist and tasted like cake should.

I watched American Idol last night. Has that finished in the US? If so, who won?

CJ, have a safe trip when you go to Winnepag. Enjoy church, ladies. And those of you who are crafting today, have fun.

Good afternoon everyone! It's sure cooling down and the wind is blowing. This weather makes me want to curl up on my bed with a nice warm blanket and some good books.

This morning our family walked to church and when we came home dh and I took the dog for a walk. Lunch was leftovers and now the afternoon is for pure relaxation. I might even sneak in a little nap. This evening we'll probably play a game together as a family. Seeing as our oldest ds is 20, I really cherish our family times.

Hope everyone's having a wonderful Sunday!

This one wasn't it either! The listing realtor scheduled other 2 other couples to be there looking at the same time as us and didn't tell our realtor plus the homeowner was home (I can't stand when they stay home and follow you around - I feel like I can't look in closets or open kitchen drawers or look in the cabinets, etc.). Ugh! The listing realtor was there also and informed our realtor that one of the other couples was making an offer on the house as we pulled in. *sigh* So, we didn't even bother looking. It was at the top of our price range anyway and I honestly didn't want to spend what they were asking (or even near what they were asking!).

That's how houses are going here though. As soon as they're on the market, they're sold - espcecially anything that has land (average size lot here in our county is .15 to .20 acre so anything above that is selling like crazy). A fellow church member of ours who is an appraiser told dh the other day that our county is the #3 hottest selling area in the entire United States right now and was inching it's way closer by the day to the #1 spot. It is literally booming here right now. It has changed a lot in the 6 years we've lived here. In a few more years we'll be literally almost like Miami. Ugh!

We did drive around to see what else we could find. We ruled one thing out because of it's proximity to the interstate and the noise we could hear.

On a brighter note though, we saw a neighbor down the street when we came home and he just sold his house. Based on what he got for his house (we have the same floor plan, but we have lots of upgrades and such that he doesn't plus we have .42 acre and he only has .21 acre) and what our same house is selling for in another subdivision (on .11 acre - YES, .11 acre! - they are called zero lot line homes and are what all the developers are building now), our house might be worth more than we anticipated. The appraiser told dh that anything on any size lot that's not average is worth a lot here now so since we have an above average sized lot that definitely helps us in that respect. As a result, not much is for sale now on 1 acre or more. I guess people are hanging on to what they have or they are hanging on for a few more years so their property will really be worth mega $$$$$ (once everything here is developed and there's no more land to be had).

Oh, and we saw some vacant land today for sale......... $100,000 per acre!

Ok, off my soap box about that. It's about 84 degrees and beautiful today. We're about to head into the backyard to play with the dogs (we have to get out the ladder and retrieve 3 footballs off the roof first though - ROFL!). Looks like we'll be watching Planet of the Apes (w/Mark Wahlberg) on TV tonight. Don't ask me why, but I love that movie.

That movie was on here last night too, Quilter. Sorry about the lacking of suitable housing. Things will change soon, just keep looking and don't let it get you down.

Yipee!! When dh woke up he felt better so he's at the shop. I've just been grocery shopping and did my smallest shop ever. I'M GETTING SO GOOD AT THIS! Ahem. The groceries have been put away, the first of two loads of laundry started and I'm just waiting for ds to go to work and I'll clean the floors. I want to do some cooking later and hopefully I'll get some gardening done this afternoon. It will depend on the weather.

I'm thinking that I may try my hand at more sewing. I'm going to look through the sewing threads today and see if I get some inspiration.

    Life's good.
