    Default HELP choosing grain grinder

I am posting this on all the boards I visit, lol. So you can skip it if you have read it somewhere else.

My husband says I have waited long enough. Now I am not sure what one to get. lol I had my heart set on the Whisper mill. But now I am wondering if i should get the Family Grain mill, as it runs by electric or hand crank. Do you know about either or both of them? It is because I believe that there could be a time period with no electric because of terrorist that is why I am leaning towards the Family grain mill.

how about the best price for it?

Whisper Mill gets my vote too. You already knew that but I had to say it again. Kindred, the Whisper Mill will run off a generator. If you have bad health, it may be hard to hand crank the grain. It would also take a lot longer time to do so.

The Whisper mill is quick, not as noisy as the other grain mills I checked out and has a lifetime warranty.

okay with overwhelming votes from all the postings I posted, lol we are getting the Whispermill.

CAn't wait till it gets here. I had brought some grain the last time I was at the Amish store, so I am ready.

BTW one cup of grain gives you how many cups of flour?

Kin, I don't have a clue. I just grind the grain (I always do 2 batches), make my bread and then freeze the rest of the flour. When I want to bake some more, I take the flour out of the freezer a couple of hours before hand.

Freshly ground flour can go rancid very quickly.
