Down on the Homestead - May 23 - 29th
Good morning everyone. Its another dull day here with rain in the forecast. I'm hoping it starts to warm up this week.
Today is a day of rest for me. I don't have to bake bread for awhile seeing as I got so much given to us yesterday.
My plans are to deliver the papers first thing this morning and then quilt away the afternoon. Dh is working all afternoon, so we don't have anything else planned.
Hope everyone has a wonderful day, down on your homestead.

No church for us today after ds's bout with the stomach flu. We found out it's been going around our church for the last 4 weeks and really flared up at the women's retreat held at the church at the end of April (so glad I didn't go). I am continually baffled though why people don't stay home when they are sick. God understands! Better to stay home than expose the whole church!
I got a new griddle yesterday so I made pancakes this morning. Not sure what else is on the agenda today. Maybe some laundry. I would like to go see the area a couple of miles from us that burned yesterday (wildfire). Dh said the newspaper reported 24 acres burned.
He actually called the fire department last night to see what kind of danger we were in.
Oh, and an electrician is supposed to come today to look at some stuff. One was supposed to come last Sunday and had to cancel and couldn't fit us into his schedule again yet so this is someone else dh knows coming today.

I totally agree QM, i've wondered that too. Hope you are all feeling better soon though.
Happy Sunday all, CJ hope you have a good day of rest.
special hugs to Bethany when you read this.
Cold and rainy here too. Wearing heavy woolie sweaters, and wishing we'd bought that furnace and be done with it, but we are scheduled for mid june and mid june it will be.

Good morning everyone! So far the sun is shining and it's warming up nicely.
I'm so glad it's a new week; last week was one I could have done without. Babysitting didn't go well, dmil was mean and hurt my feelings, vacuum broke, dishwasher is leaking, dh had a couple hard days at work, dd had way too many mood swings and the whole week was just too busy.
BUT, Friday evening dh and I drove two dks to their weekend camping trip with the cadets. Oldest ds is busy and hasn't been home much. Yesterday was our 22nd wedding anniversary and dh and I spent a wonderful day together. We slept in, did lots of talking about our future plans, went out to the coffee shop for our favorite drinks, bbq a wonderful frugal meal and ate in peace and quiet.
Today is going to be another relaxing day and then back to the grind tomorrow. I'm so thankful this weekend is being restful. Thursday my dmil and her husband are coming for ds' college grad ceremony and after the last conversation with her I'm not looking forward to this visit. Margery, I sure hope your still coming and we can go out for a visit.
Hope you're all having a wonderful weekend
Note to self: Don't forget to pick up dks tomorrow!~ Tina ~

Hi everyone.
I had a lovely night out with dh last night. We went to an Indian restaurant and like Tina we discussed future plans and talked about our kids and the business.
I'll be very busy this week as I'm going to sydney on Saturday I have lots to do here at the house and in the yard, plus I'm working the next two days. DH told me not to worry about working this week, but I don't like him to work too hard since he had his stroke. My friend Kathleen is flying down on Friday so I have to prepare the guest room for her. I'm going to the airport on the train as we're getting a rental car for our trip to Sydney and we both have to sign for it. It's the first time I've been on a train for a couple of years! After I pick her up we're going to the local Dairy, Horse and Craft Show. Next year I plan on entering a few things in the show - like vegetables, preserves, cakes - so I want to see what the competition is like. The following day, at 4am, we will leave for Sydney.
Tina, I really hope you have a better week. Happy anniversary to you and your husband.
Thanks for your lovely posts and concern, Margery. You're a true friend. Warm furnace-intensity hugs back.
Quilter, I hope you're safe from the fires.
CJ, enjoy your afternoon of quilting.
And I hope everyone has a peaceful, simple week.

Sending big
to you all!
Today is a busy one for us. We have 3 graduation parties to go to. We already did one at lunchtime today and have 2 more this evening. It was so nice seeing many old friends that we have not seen in quite awhile. I'm sure we will be seeing more this evening.
Chris is busy rototilling in the backyard again. I'm not sure what he plans on putting in back there, but I'm sure it will be something good. DH and I have decided to just let him do whatever he wants with the yard since he really wants to study landscape architecture in college.
Not much else going on here today.
Be blessed!

Hello this Sunday afternoon.
I have not done much at all today. I did not go to church this morning I was still to upset. You see yesterday my husband let his sister's little girl stay for a while and he opened the front door and Frodo, my beloved Pomeranian got out. Usually he just circles the house and I can get him to come in the other door, well yesterday he took off out the road and someone hit him and killed him. I did not realize how close I was to him. I cried for hours and literally was sick over it. I am still very upset and am finding it hard to do anything today.
Maybe tommorow will be better.Jeanna

Jeanna, I'm sorry your beloved Frodo was killed. It's very difficult when a pet dies.

(((((HUGS))))) Jeanna!
Today I need to tackle some laundry, continuing putting things away around the house, finish reading a chapter book with ds, and start getting prepared for the homeschool convention.
Our cat was back this morning (ds and I haven't seen him since last Wed. I think although dh saw him Fri. morning) so ds was absolutely thrilled!

Jeanna, I'm so sorry to hear about Frodo!
This is one busy week and I thought last week was buy! Ha! Friday, DH's cousin and his GF are coming to visit and staying until Tuesday. Satuday we are having a holiday Barbeque/party as well. On top of that or close friend just had a baby last Friday and I'm finishing up a baby quilt for her. Another close friend's baby sower is the 19th and I have to finish her baby quilt by then. So in between working, sewing, cleaning there is not much extra in my life for these next few weeks! Geepers!

Thanks everyone for your thought and prayers. I am doing some better today.
Today is the last day of school here. I went to Marina's 5th grade graduation this morning and then she went home with my mom so I could come to work. Nathan did not have to go today because he had finished all of his end of year exams.
Tonight it looks like I will be taking Marina and whoever else wants to go to see Shrek 2. If not I may be going to look at some goats a lady has for sale. If I don't tonight I probably will tomorrow.
That is about all here today. Nothing really getting accomplished.Jeanna

Jeanna I'm so sorry about your beloved Frodo.
Today we had Physical Therapy for the twins at 9 a.m.. That ment we had to be up and moving by 6:30 a.m. after being out late last night. I was kind of dragging.
. Stopped by to see a friend (who's son graduated yesterday and we had been at his party) to thank her for including us in the celebration, it ment so much to us. She and I both ended up in tears and she confided in me that our family being there was so important to them, especially since her own family (parents, etc.) had turned their backs on them and didn't come.
The rest of the day will be filled with schoolwork, laundry, baking 4 loaves of bread and possibly babysitting our little neighbor girl for a short time between when her mom needs to leave for a meeting and her dad gets home from work. Poor little thing isn't feeling well and her mom had to leave her teaching job today to bring her home and take care of her. We just love that sweet little one and she is a joy to have around.
Be blessed!

Jeanna, I'm so sorry about your beloved pet.

Well I'm back after almost a full day of no internet. The net was down for all of western Manitoba - drove me nuts. While it was down, I learnt how to use my new toy (digital camera) which was a gift to me from some very special ladies. It took me a day and a half to figure it out, but I did it. Then this morning when I came on, our power went out.
Our weather is awful with cold temps and rain and more rain. I'm wanting to plant my garden, but its not looking too promising for another few days until the ground dries up.
Its Victoria Day here, so its a holiday. No stores are opened and usually there are fireworks somewhere. Not anywhere near us though, much to the disappointment of the kids.
Once I'm finished here, I plan on doing some quilting, some reading and I just might crawl in bed and have a nice afternoon nap.
Have a great day everyone.

Good morning everyone. Its another dull day here, but suppose to warm up this week. Hopefully we've gotten enough rain for awhile.
First thing this morning I need to get the papers delivered. I'm really enjoying the walking and meeting my customers. Most are elderly people and really enjoying getting their papers first thing in the morning. I love talking with elderly people.
Once I get home, I need to get the laundry done. I still need to fold the clothes from a few days ago. I have just kept putting it off, enjoying quilting and reading a bit too much.
If it doesn't rain and dries up enough, I need to get the lawn mowed. With all this rain, it needs cutting badly.
Dh is working today which we are so thankful for.
Have a wonderful day, down on your homestead.
