Down on the Homestead - June 6 - 12th
Good morning everyone. It was a beautiful day yesterday and looks like another nice one today.
We did the town wide yard sales yesterday and when we got home I washed everything I got. Today I need to fold everything and put things away. The flannelette sheets I'll store for winter.
I also got the lawn mowed yesterday and I'm waiting for a few things to come up so I can get in the garden and weed. Hopefully I can get some of it done today.
Otherwise its going to be a quiet day here.
Have a wonderful day everyone.

Good morning CJ,
It was lovely here too yesterday. I got the yard work done and the garden tilled and weeded. Today I need to do laundry. It is sunny now but, supossed to rain later so I don't think I'll get it out on the line. For dinner we will be having shis-ka-bob on the grill rice and watermellon.
Have a great day all.

Today is the last day of dance recital ( and the very last one for my oldest-- he's decided not to dance anymore
)
Not getting much else done here except getting all the stuff ready for that, and lunch.

Finished the papers. Once home, I weeded the flowerbeds and planted the last 6 tomato plants. I also decided to do a load of laundry and have it hung on the line. Its nice and breezy so should dry quickly.
I think I'm going to take a rest this afternoon. I didn't get much sleep last night.
Supper is in the crockpot.

It is a beautiful glorious day here in Texas. The sun is shining, the birds are singing and the neighborhood children are laughing and riding their bicycles in the road. I love small town living!
I have done several loads of laundry here and have several more to go. I plan to scrub the kitchen floor and get the bathroom scrubbed and disinfected and then I am done with housework for the day. I have lots more that needs to be done but it is just too beautiful to be indoors today. I am going to work in the flower beds and try to get some of the pesky weeds out.
I plan to read some more of "At Home in Mitford" this afternoon.
Have a wonderful day everyone!

It's Monday morning here and I'm going to work at our store again today. I'm have almost recovered from my trip away and caught up on some much needed sleep. I might have to work tomorrow too as dh has a swollen ankle
I'm desperate to get into my garden again. I have so much to do as I haven't been in there for over a week. I have vegetable seedlings to plant and plants to move in the flower garden. While I was away my sister took us to some beautiful private gardens that where open for inspection. We had a great time wandering around and I got some good ideas for my garden.
I'm in the middle of writing a post for the homesteading thread on keeping a few hens in the backyard. I've kept chickens for over 15 years now so I thought I'd pass on a few things I know. I hope to post it tomorrow if I'm not working.
The weather is cool here. It's been raining overnight and the gardens are loving it. I hope you all have a wonderful day.

It’s a warm and breezy day here in Illinois today. My brother is a firefighter and he and some of his friends were in our area today for a water fight. So I fixed lunch for all of them, I just now got all of the dishes washed and everything put away. Time to go out to the swing and put my feet up!

Good afternoon everyone! The sun is just starting to shine after a very heavy rainfall during the night and through till around noon.
I've been outside in the greenhouse and fertilizing my hanging baskets.
I decided to bake bread today since it's cooler and tomorrow the weather is supposed to heat up again. I'm hoping to get some banana chocolate chip muffins made too.
I heard through email that my dks team came in 3rd in the big first-aid competition yesterday. That's very good considering one team is training to be paramedics. I'll find out all the details tomorrow evening when they get home.
I'm off to read till my breads ready for the oven.~ Tina ~

Good afternoon all.
Strawberry congrats on the kids getting that award.
Bethany I so sympathize. My garden awaits, and I've been having a bit of an energy relapse for last couple of days. I want to get out and do, and I'm stuck just keeping things going 5 minutes at a time with big rests in between.
I'll have company coming again toward the end of the week and have to be ready so I'm taking it really easy
but ewwwww I hate resting!!!! I want to garden, dejunk, visit with friends, do stuff but I know enough by now that all that must wait.

We have had it so nice here in Illinois the past couple of weeks, warm but not to warm well that is all about to come to an end as I think summer is officially coming early this year. So long to the 70's and hello to the 90's starting today. So I am headed outside to finish up with the animal chores and then of to work in the garden before it gets too hot.

Good morning! Nice breezy morning here! Looks like we might be in for rain today. Yesterday (because my riding mower is in the shop) I mowed the lawn with our walk-behind mower. My feet are killing me today but there is still more mowing to be done!
Today, if weather permits and after mowing, I'll be out in our shop cleaning. We keep one of our puppies out there and the floor needs to be cleaned and disinfected. Then, still if weather permits, I'm going in seach of a hen for our rooster. We fixed up a coop for him in one of the dog kennels with chicken wire and an old wood box. He loves it! And the doggies are getting used to him being closer to them.
Have a great day everyone!

Hello this Monday morning! We didn't get rain last night but it sure feels like it today. Temperatures are rising and it's to be quite hot today and tomorrow.
DH is leaving for work for the week shortly. Dylan has been doing his schoolwork since 8 a.m. and once DH leaves we will be on the road running errands, returning items, dropping off bags of clothes, picking up money from the consignment shop and stopping in at the church.
We opened our pool this weekend, the kids are loving it. Delaney has been in MANY times...too cold for the rest of us but she just couldn't wait. Put chemicals in last night, sure cleared it all up,need to do a bit more vacuming tonight and it'll be perfect!
I also planted the rest of my flowers this weekend so it was nice to get those in. We planted more vegetable seeds this weekend and I still have more to go....
Tonight I must make up 2 dozen cupcakes and 2 pies for a church social tomorrow night, I don't want to have the oven on tomorrow when it'll be so hot.

Good evening. This is the first chance I've had to say hello today! lol It turned out to be a beautiful despite what the weatherman was calling for! He said it was going to be cloudy, showers and in the 60's. Well, it was sunny most of the day, no rain at all and hit 80!! Tomorrow we go into hot & humid. 90 degree temps!! I love those temps, just not the humidity. I have asthma and the humid weather triggers it, so I try not to do much.
Today I did 2 loads of laundry, did all of my housecleaning, thoroughly cleaned the inside of my fridge, cleaned the microwave inside & out, washed my kitchen canisters, made cupcakes & koolaid, went & had my dd's film developed for a project, went to the bank, went into the city to have coffee with my sister and picked up the kids pc from her, all fixed!! lol yeah!!
Breakfast was oatmeal and bagels and for dinner I made frank sandwiches and potato salad. And in my potato salad I put the first pickings from my garden!! Chives and radishes. Oh, they were so good!!
I just took the cupcakes out of the oven a little bit ago, so once they've cooled I need to frost them.
Well, I need to get ds ready for bed. I hope you all have a peaceful evening!!

Good evening everyone. I'm late today. Its just been one of those days when I haven't done much of anything. Just feeling sorta blah.
I did the papers first thing this morning and then most of the day I read. Its been raining on and off all day with high winds, so I couldn't get anything done outside. I need to weed the veggie garden, but until a few things come up, I can't get in there to do it.
Tonight I'm going to do some ironing and then read a bit more.
Hope everyone has a wonderful evening.
