Down on the Homestead - June 13 - 19th
Good morning everyone. I'm up really early this morning. Couldn't sleep. I woke up to rain, not exactly what I wanted to see again today. Everything is green and they are saying we've never had this much rain in spring in 10 years. The farmers are having trouble getting crops in though and with no warmth, not much is growing well. Hopefully the weather will change soon.
I need to get the papers done today and then were going into the city. I need to pick up a few groceries as were having company for supper tonight. A new couple is moving here and we've invited them over. Can't wait, they are such a neat couple and their little daughter is just the sweetest.
Not much else happening here today. Later tonight I plan on getting some reading done. I also still need to decide what type of pattern I'm using for the quilts I'm making for grandkids. I need to check out some quilting books I have.
Have a great day everyone, down on your homestead.

Mornin' CJ!
I just posted about my busy weekend in the Veranda. Today I'll be napping and doing laundry. I have to clean out the car from our shore trip, and start to get ready for our weekend at the shore next week.
Just have to tidy up some stuff and do some dishes. I don't know yet what's for dinner, have to check the pantry.

Good morning all, CJ enjoy your company tonight, have fun, Danielle I hope you have a restful day.
Bethany when you come in on this thread, glad your dh is doing better. Sending hugs. So stressful for you both.
Tina, hugs and prayers.
I just said bye to my company, dh and I are being bad and skipping church. I am resting, he is going to shoot some golf balls.
Dd is going to church like a good girl, making her mum feel guilty
She just painted her toenails a tasteful bright blinding blue to match her sandals and outfit, making sure to get several little silver glitter stars on each nail. The rest of her looks so modest and dignified and churchy, and then those feet! I love it.
Ds is off on a camping trip with a few friends. it's a bachelor party alternative for a friend who is getting married. They are climbing something in Manning Park. And perhaps shaving the grooms head, depending.

Brrr, it's cold here. I'm loving it!!!!
Thanks for your warm wishes and thoughts, Margery and Carolyn. DH is doing much better now and I'm enjoying my time at home.
I've already written my hens thread for today so after I finish here I'm going into the garden to regenerate my spirit. I shall be collecting calendula seeds, planting some celery, sugarloaf cabbage and tomato seedlings and turning over the compost pile. I also have some pots to plant up with pansy seedlings which I always grow in winter on the sunny side of my front verandah. I want to transplant a fig tree with i have topiarised and growing in a pot that's too small for it now. I have a huge pot on the front verandah that was growing ginger that has died down for the winter. I'll use that pot. Hopefully it's not all going to be too big for me to handle.
I'm going to make some of the gifts I give this year so I'm starting out with three cushions I'm making for my son's birthday in July. I visited my dil yesterday - the craft teacher, and she gave me some lovely fabric of mixed vegetables and one of pumpkins. She also gave me matching linen that I'm going to embroider with gardening tools and a few words. I asked her how to make the cushions but she offered to do them for me.
So I'm doing the embroidery and she's doing the sewing. We also decided to see if we could sell some of her quilts and maybe some of these cusions in our store. We'll test the water with a couple of lap quilts and a cushion or two. I hope they sell.
I have a bit of cooking to do later - bread and a cake and I have to go to the craft store and buy some threads and needles.
I have a busy day, I'd best get moving. Have a lovely day, ladies.

Goodmorning All!

It's Monday and the kids and I got back from our time at the lake yesterday afternoon. We spent the morning there visiting with my Aunt and Uncle who popped in on their trip from California and whom we had not seen in about 3 years. Wonderful to spend time with them!
Today the kids and I are trying to get the house back in order, spend time with the cats, work in the yard and get a tent pitched in the yard so the boys can have all their buddies spend the night tonight.
One of their friends is up here from Colorado Springs and is just a sweetie! He has always been like one of my sons and I'm excited to have him "home" again.
I need to run to the store and pick up a few things to replenish the fridge. I also need to make some granola and pancake mix. With all these boys around we'll go through lots of food.
I just love it!!!!! Luckily the garden is producing lots of lettuce, so we'll be doing salads with dinner almost every night.
The kids are out doing lawns this morning to earn more money. We'll be heading back over to the lake for the 4th of July, so they need more spending money!

Good morning all!
I survived the party on Friday; actually all the kids are a great bunch and we had lots of fun.
Ds hurt his leg Tuesday and then re-injuried it on Friday so this morning we're off to the doctors.
Dh will find out today or tomorrow if he got the job he applied for.
I need to run ds to his doctor's appointment; I post more later.
Have a great day
~ Tina ~

Morning ladies.
Welcome home, Debbie, I missed you.
Margery, you and your dh sure know how to paint the town red. I hope you're resting up for your next escapade.
Tina, I sure hope your dh gets that job. I'm sending positive thoughts your way.
Hugs Carolyn, you rest up and relax today.
I'm grocery shopping today with the aim of restocking my pantry after three weeks without shopping. A well stocked pantry is such a great help when you've not got the time nor the inclination to shop for groceries. When I come home I'll be in the garden again. I didn't get around to my transplanting job yesterday so I have that to do first. I also want to shovel out the fabulous soil out of the bottom of my chicken run. My girls have a small area outside their house that's fenced off where they walk around if they're not allowed out to roam around. Twice a year I shovel out a couple of wheelbarrows full of the richest soil you'd ever hope to find. I generally put it around the roses and vegies but this year I'm putting it all on a flower bed I'm builing up.
I have some baking to do this afternoon and I have to tidy up my bedroom. Tomorrow I have a mammoth day of ironing to look forward to.
I'm off to write my chook thread now. Enjoy this day on your homestead.

Oooooh the sun is shining here right now. Its a wonderful day. We haven't seen the sun in days and days. Sure hope it stays for awhile.
Tina, praying your dh gets the job.
Debbie, welcome back. We missed you friend.
Bethany, glad to hear your dh is on the mend. Sure hope those quilts and pillows sell.
Margery - a lady who knows how to do holidays right!!!
Poor George, I do hope he survives the dentist.

Life really is fragile, isn't it.
Well today dh and I delivered the papers together. I was the supervisor. He carried the papers and I told him where to deliver them.
Can't beat that type of supervising.
Then when I stopped at the post office, my tender was accepted for the position of caretaking. I'm really excited about that. Sure will help in the finance department.
I haven't done much else. Dh, the kids and myself have been discussing some dreams and how we can be even more frugal to fulfill them by next year. Were wanting to purchase a camper for summer 2005. It was very interesting to see how the kids wanted to work at saving. Poor Justin, he wasn't giving up anything that had to do with eating.
He was quite concerned he was going to have to. Course I didn't make it all that easy for him by asking him what meal he wanted to give up.
He almost dropped off his chair when I asked him that!!!! They did come up with a few good suggestions though. So will implement them starting today.
Tonight I need to go through my blue material & fat quarters and see what I can come up with for my granddaughter's quilt.
Have a great afternoon everyone.

Yummmm. . . . we picked about a quart of black raspberries off our vines today. . . . . Now what to make with them?
Save for jam? Make a cobbler? Eat fresh?
Decisions, decisions,. . .

I think you should package them up and send them to australia. But then maybe that's just being selfish.
