Down on the Homestead - Aug. 1 - 7th
Good morning everyone. I can't believe its August 1st, but here we are. Where has July gone.
Today is suppose to be a day of rest, but I need to weed the flowerbeds over at the lodge, deliver the papers and finish the floors over at the post office. Not much of a day of rest.
We are also going to see fireworks late tonight.
Tina, thinking of you and your dh. Praying all is going well at your home.
Have a great day everyone.

We've been to church, stopped by Albertson's to buy shrimp, and came home for a quick lunch. Dh is working on the utility room cabinets and I'm about to go out and work in the garden. I have 3 more raised beds to get filled with compost and soil and I need to plant some seeds. Later this afternoon we'll hit the beach.

Goodmorning everyone!

This morning DH and I slept in along with the kids. I think we were all a bit exhausted after yesterday. The boys counted up their money from the yard sale and they made about $100 total (more people came as we were packing and we sold more stuff after I posted yesterday). DH took me to see the movie "The Notebook" last night. Oh Ladies, you must see this one if you have not already. It's wonderful!!!!
Today hubby is taking out the other old window in our bedroom and putting in the new one. He has to enlarge the opening so I may have to get off the computer soon since he'll be working in this area. The boys and I have been working in the garden pulling out all the lettuce that has gone to bolt and doing some weeding. I noticed that some of our cherry tomatoes are getting close to being ripe!
Picked a big zuchinni this morning and will be making something with it later.
There is still one yard sale going on in town today and the boys have been up there buying clothes at it. They have some really nice guy stuff in their sizes and it's all name brand stuff, so the kids are thrilled!
They have taken to buying their own clothes now since they are all making their own money.
I need to make some whole wheat bread and get some beans going to make chili. I think that's about all I'll be doing today other than playing on the computer and doing some reading. I'll work on my resume tomorrow and get that ready to mail off by the afternoon.
have a great day and be blessed!

Hello ladies! We just got back from our weekend away, had a great time! I took Delaney to the Children's Museum...all hands on and DH took the boys to Laserquest. We checked into the hotel, went for a swim and then headed out for supper at a lovely family restaurant. Kids had to get right back to the hotel for another swim and hot tub! We watched a movie in our room after that. It was SO nice to go to bed, not worry about late night/early morning phone calls, no getting up early to deliver papers, do chores, nothing.....I stayed in bed until 10 o'clock...the kids asked if I was all right!
Oh and the night before when DH was downstairs with the kids I had a llllooooonnnnnnngggggg hot bath!
Great to get away but nice to be home now too!
I am getting clothes ready for Delaney and Dylan, they are spending the week at my Mom's and my nephew is coming here.
Debbie......there aren't many movies I HAVE to watch but when I saw the previews for the Notebook, I just knew I had to get to that one....it hasn't hit our town yet!

Good afternoon ladies! I'm just sneaking a peek here before I'm off for a quick nap.
Thank you all for your prayers and good wishes. They mean a lot to us.
Dh is still having small chest pains; nothing major and he hasn't taken any nitro pills for them. The pressure is his chest only last 30 seconds or so. Tuesday I'm going to the doctor with him and maybe we know something more.
I've had 14 people around for the last 2 days and tomorrow most will be gone. My mom and dad will still be here a few more days. Everyone has gone out or are laying down resting. I better get off this computer and go rest.
Have a wonderful Sunday!~ Tina ~

A guy dh knows is here installing our new front door. I know there's already been one problem and I think there's another. The guy keeps slamming the door and grumbling.
I am having a hard time keeping ds out of my room (where the dogs are - he's already let them out once) and out of this guy's way.
I've started more seed trays this morning and checked on the garden. After this guy leaves I need to go to the PO, return items to the library, and try to go by a different location of the grocery store for a couple of things our regular location was sold out of/hasn't ordered.

Good morning!
Congratulations Tina on your DH's new job!! I hope the dr. visit goes well.
Yesterday, DH installed some new light fixtures in the house and he replaced the bulbs with halogen bulbs. They are not cheap, but will pay off in the long run!!
Chris and Dakota helped me paint the walls in their bedroom. They are excited to be getting a room "make-over". The walls are finished for now. I need to start pulling up carpet which is also going to be replaced. I need to buy more border, but it is cheap...only $1 a pack. I found some I liked with a sport's theme at the Dollar Tree.
I took their old wooden toy chest that they have outgrown and turned it into a shelving system. I had DH cut some plywood to the size I needed and stood it on it's side to make a shelf. It now has 3 shelves in it. The plywood was left-over, so it only cost me my time and a can of paint to repaint it ($2.XX). I can't wait to be finished with it. Then all we like redoing is the hall and the living room, which will be put on hold until a later date.
I have laundry going and hanging to dry. Supper is in the crockpot and I have filed my coupons.
I have taken pictures of items to list on ebay, just need to go list them now.~*Michelle*~

Good morning everyone. Congratulations to Tina's dh. Its been a long haul Tina and were all just so excited for you both. Praying when he goes to the doctor his medication can be adjusted and all goes well.
Today has started out as a pretty busy day. I ran over and finished the post office. I just needed to move a bit of furniture back and dust, now I'm all finished.
I've got 2 loads of laundry hanging on the line and another in the washing machine. Once laundry is done, I'll make lunch and then we plan on taking off for the day to another lake to look at million dollar homes. Should be fun.
While I've been doing the laundry, I've been repairing my 50¢ quilt I found. When I look at the material in this quilt, I wonder how many different outfits went into it. I was going to use new material for the binding, but I had a lightbulb moment. Remember when I picked up that bag of quilting material this past spring and it had all the older type material. Well I'm going to use that for the binding. Works perfect!!
Tonight, I plan on playing cards with dh and the kids and then reading a bit.
have a wonderful day everyone.

Good afternoon all!

Today DH took our van in to get a hitch installed on it. That left me with the little car. The kids and I were on our way out of town to pick plums at a friends when we saw a huge black cloud of smoke. One of the local businesses was on fire and the building and contents of it are a total loss. Luckily it did not spread to their office or welding building so we did not have oxygen tanks acting as missles.
A friend of ours had one of their huge grain trucks there having some work done on it and the fire damaged the cab pretty badly since it was right in front of the building that was on fire.
My MIL called just few minutes ago to tell me that an old family friend has just died. She has been ill for quite some time and it really was a blessing, but she leaves behind her husband who is blind and is lost without her. I feel so badly for the entire family. I don't know when the funeral is yet, but we will be attending if at all possible. I take great comfort in knowing that Margaret is in Heaven with her Beloved Lord and is rejoicing in His presence.
Other than all of the above, we have been doing our schoolwork, laundry, me working on my resume and working in the garden and trying to get things caught up around here. The boys will be going swimming later this afternoon and I'll do some reading then.
Be blessed!

Hi there.
This morning I'll be in my garden and this afternoon I'll be ironing. I'm finally giving up on my hydrangeas today. I have 6 of them planted in various spots in my front garden. They don't grow well because I can't water them as much as they'd like so I'm going to pot them up and sit them in shade in the garden. The wtaer supply here is pretty grim. We don't have water restrictions yet but we've had no rain for a long time and even our rain water tank is almost empty. Today I'll have to run a hose through the backyard to water the rainforest plants along the creek bed - which is dry. I have a few tree ferns there and I'd hate to lose them.
I also have lettuce seedlings to plant and the tomatoe bushes are so full of tomatoes that some have collapsed. I'll retie all of them today. I'm going to plant some asparagus crowns today and start another compost heap. The strawberries are in flower so it won't be long and we'll have strawberries for dinner. Pity DH can't eat them
I hope you enjoy your day.
