    Smile Feeding Hummingbirds

At the beginning of summer, I was worried because we had so few hummingbirds. We have 2 feeders and I was dumping the sugar water out at the end of each week and putting in fresh because it wasn't getting eaten fast enough. Fast forward to now..... I am having to fill the feeders up twice a day! The birds are all over them. I counted 12 the other day, but it's not an easy count with them dashing around. I use 1 part sugar to 4 parts water and add red food coloring for looks. They are sucking this stuff down faster than I'm going thru my Pepsi. When I go to fill up the feeders, the birds hover close to my face as if to say, hurry up, we want to eat. I love watching them so much that I don't even mind having to fill up the feeders all the time. I sure will miss them when they go away for the winter.

Who else is feeding the hummingbirds?

WE ARE!! we LOVE them too! and yes, we are filling the feeders at least once every 1-2 days! we hang our feeder right outside our sliding door in our diningroom so we watch all day. when we refill it, they swoop at us too!! we just LOVE it!!

I do as well, I have 2 feeders one on the front side of the house, I watch them from the kitchen sink, the other on the back side of the house...I can watch them from inside or on the patio.....we sure do enjoy there yearly visits.

We usually have 4 or 5 fighting with each other out at the feeder.

I read to not use the food coloring, so our next batch will be clear.

    Daily refills too.
