Thumbs up Down on the Homestead - Aug. 8 - 14th

Well goodnight and good morning - I'm up late so thought I'd start this thread for tomorrow morning. I'm going to have everyone confused and poor Bethany, she isn't going to know which day it truly is.

It's pretty close to Sunday though and I should be getting to bed.

Sunday we plan on taking a drive up north. We have to deliver some clocks to the tourist camp that has some of our crafts on consignment. We will probably then take a drive into Dauphin and spend the day looking around and came back via the back roads. For anyone who doesn't know, its through Riding Mountain National park and its beautiful up there.

Once were back home, I will probably try to get a bit of quilting in. I've started one of my grandson's quilts and there is quite a bit of cutting to do. I'm hoping to get all the cutting done and then I can quilt as I find the time.

Dh was also given a cupboard I need to clean up. I might put it in my sewing room and use the top for cutting my material on. He also has a chance to get a whole set of kitchen cupboards and is going to look at them on Monday. I'm hoping they are in great shape because if they are, will tear the old cupboards out that are in our kitchen and replace them with these.

I'm off to bed now, so good night and an early good morning.

Margery - it was fun tonight. So good to talk with you.

Tina, praying your dh is feeling better soon.

Good morning all. If CJ is sleep deprived and tired, I had a lovely chat with her last night, and enjoyed it thoroughly as one always does, with a chat with CJ.

Tina hoping things are looking up on your homestead.

    Goodmorning all, happy Sunday!

I get to wear a new dress. Penningtons had a half off the last marked price sale this week and I bought a dress for 17.50 that looks great.

I am road testing it to church this morning.

    Have a great day everyone!

Hi Everyone! I haven't been here in a while and it's so nice to see you all.

Today is a "lazy" day for me...lazy in the sense that actually slept in past 8:30 and DH and I finished watching a movie that we started watching late last night...this is prety much unheard of for us to do, but it was raining and it felt nice to cuddle.

After that DH went to work on the car and I have been puttering around here...making homeade pasta sauce with meatballs for dinner, took my shower, laundry and I need to cut the pattern pieces out for my Niece's outfit that I'm making her for her birthday and the end of the month. I finished all of my Christmas lists yesterday, so that means more planning and getting out fabric for Christmas projects. I can't believe how overwhelmed I feel already and I thought I had plenty of time in May and have been putting off the projects. I hate it when I do that! Oh well, it could be worse and I could be starting stuff in October like I have many years before.

I hope you all have a great day!

    Goodmorning!

Well CJ, if I'd seen your opening post when you wrote it it would have been my Sunday afternoon @ 4.00pm but it's much later and I'm reading it at 5.50am Monday morning. But you're right, it very confusing with our time differences and that's why I stopped opening the thread as I confused everyone, including myself. I'm pleased you and Margery had a pleasant visit on the phone yesterday. I wish I lived closer or the phone rates were cheaper and I'd ring a few of you.

I'm at the store again today. It's mighty cold up there at the moment. The wind was blowing yesterday and as we are on the edge of a cliff if I open the window it's like a wind tunnel. Needless to say I kept it closed but even the sound of the wind made me shiver.

I'm trying to talk DH into going to the state fair today. I want him to take my camera and take pics of all the canning and preserves. I saw the cakes on the TV news last night but I'd love to see the standard of the preserves as I intend to enter my jams and chutneys in the local agricultural show next July. I'm going to make him breakfast in bed shortly to soften him up.

Tina, I hope things are improving with your DH. I send my good thoughts and best wishes.

It's good to see you back, Michele Annette.

    hugs to everyone

Hi everyone! Nice to see you again Michele!

Bethany~hope you got to the fair

Margery~road testing...you have me laughing again!

CJ~Your day sounds lovely, driving in the country...enjoy!

Today was a sleep in day, it was great! I go tup, had a shower, late breakfast and just took a walk outside through my gardens.

We are selling our mare and colt so there was 2 different people in today looking at them. It'll be sad to see them go but they are going to a wonderful home with children and we know they will take great care of them. And they live close so we can drive by and see them.

Dh was busy finishing our deck around our pool...one more section to go next weekend and it'll be officially done!

I washed our bedding today as it was the perfect drying day.

DH took us out for supper, nice treat!

I am off to get dh's clothes and meals ready for him to take with him this week to work.

    Night, Night!

    Good afternoon everyone!

Today we finally made it up to our church. We had been there in a little over 2 months due to illness, remodeling, trips and family crisises. It felt so good to be "home" again and to just soak it all in, praise the Lord with other believers, learn some new things and see other's set free from things that had been binding them up inside. God is Good!!!!!

We stopped by Target on the way home and I used my $10 gift card to get vitamins and my much needed Oil or Olay lotion for sensitive skin. I ended up after the gift card only paying .57 for the 4 bottles of vitamins and the lotions since they were all on clearance. I was a bit miffed at myself when I came back out to the van and found a $1.00 off coupon for the lotion though that I could have used.

DH and I took a nap this afternoon while the boys went up to the pool to go swimming. DH was going to work on the trim for the windows but kept dozing off on the way home (Jaysn was driving, so at least we were safe ). Poor guy is just worn out from working so hard at work and at home.

Oh, oh, oh!!!! John Bevere (a really good Christian writer and speaker) is going to be speaking at my church on August 28th!!!! I am so excited! I have wanted to hear him speak for years now and am finally going to get a chance to. Here is his website if you want to check it out:
    http://www.johnbevere.org/

That's what's going on here today! Have a wonderful evening!

    Good evening!

Today DH and I made a trip to Walgreens to get the Free after Rebate items. I also picked up a few other items that I had a FREE coupon for.

Came home to make a big pot of chili, something my family loves to eat.

    Washed the bedding today.

DH made me a bath with bubbles and flower petals on the bubbles. Of course he had it in candle light. He does this all the time. He is always trying to do something like that for me.

I decided today to not let Chris play select baseball this year. It gets to be so stressful taking him back and forth to another town while school is in session. They have football practice after school and then baseball practice on top of that. There is no time for school work. I know he isn't happy with my decision, but this is something I must do for his school work and my sanity. I hope I can stick to my decision.

No work tomorrow, but Tuesday officially starts my everyday routine. The children start on the 17th, but the staff has to report on the 10th. and everyday there after.

I hope you all have a great evening.

Its now Sunday evening and although I had everyone confused, I'm glad I had a wonderful chat with Margery last night. It was set with laughter which was like a healing balm to my soul. Thanks Margery for always doing that.

We just got back from our trip up north, well a a couple hours ago. We watch the cloudy sky for the better part of the day. What beauty in seeing the different shapes and colors. I love watching a storm - I probably would do wonderful being a storm chaser except I'm not quite that courageous. It did rain all day from the time we left until we returned home.

We ended up in Dauphin and decided to eat out for supper. We haven't done that for awhile and it was a nice treat.

Looking over the wheat fields, I could see patchwork quilts in different hues of greens, yellows, purples (flax) and with the colors in the sky, it was awesome to see. If you've ever flown at the time when the wheat fields are ripe, you'll know what I'm saying here. There is nothing quite like it.

As I was driving, dh seen a big buck (deer) run across the road. I seen the other one in the ditch and immediately slowed down. It crossed right in front of us. The kids have seen many deer, but never a buck and with antlers. They both stood by the side of the road. Then just down the road a bit we seen a bald eagle.

Except for Michael's misbehavior during the trip, it was a wonderful ride.

And to top it off, the lady who has our crafts on consignment would like a couple of my quilted wall hangings to see if she can sell them.

Hope you all have a wonderful evening.

Good morning everyone. Its Monday already, the start of a busy week here. With our weather has cool as it is, I plan on doing some major baking today and tomorrow. Its only suppose to be +12C here and down to +3 tonight, with a possibility again of frost. UGH!!! Its not good for the farmers though. They need some major heat and a longer season so that they can get their crops off the fields. With having a late start this year, its not looking very good right now.

I also need to start working on my wall hangings. The tops are done so it only means the quilting part now. I'd like to get a couple done by the end of this month. My time keeps getting shorter each day it seems. I also won't give up my "me" time, so I need to do some priortizing over the next week. Along with doing the wall hangings, I need to finish a couple of dh's big clocks. Going to be a busy couple weeks here.

I was going to do another batch of beans today but it rained all day yesterday and is raining now. With beans you can't touch them if they are wet because they get rust, so I'll need to wait until it dries up. I do plan on digging up a hill of potatoes for supper tonight though.

As soon as the papers are here, I'll get the kids up and will get those delivered. I think will use the van this week - saves on time and with the weather the way it is, I won't get wet.

Hope you all have a great day, down on your homestead.

Good morning! I'm sitting here watching the birds & squirrels play out in the back woods. They are so active this morning! It's amusing.
The weather is terrific. It's supposed to be in the 80's today but not humid! The humidity will be moving in tomorrow or Wed.

Today I need to do 2 loads of laundry, one of which is already hanging out on the line, clean the mirrors & tv screens, clean the toilets (both of those are already done), cut & organize coupons, vacuum the main rooms, inventory the fridge for leftovers, dust the master bedroom & clean the cat box.

Breakfast was oatmeal with brown sugar, cinnamon & raisins, toast, pineapple chunks and juice
Lunch will be egg salad sandwiches, jello and raisins
Dinner is a pork tenderloin, potatoes & onions, which are cooking in the crockpot now and I'll whip up some dinner rolls too

Yesterday was a lazy day for me. I didn't do much! lol
DH put a garbage disposal in over the weekend. We had one in the apartment we rented before we bought this house. So, I did miss it when we moved here!! Because we have a septic, though, he didn't think we could have one. But he is a service tech for Sears and he's seen alot of disposals in people's houses with septics and they say they've never had a problem. So, he put one in!!! lol

Well, I need to get my butt moving here!
I hope everyone has a wonderful day!!

    Goodmorning

Today is going ot be a busy day around here. I'm driving over to the main library branch to drop off my application and to return some books and movies. Please send prayers and good wishes my way, I really want this job. I also need to bake 4 loaves of bread, cut up the 10 green peppers I have here and freeze most of them, cut up a 5 pound bag of onions and dehydrate most of them, thaw out some steak to use in making fajitas for dinner, cut up a bunch of mushrooms to freeze and declutter and organize the kitchen. I've made a list of snacks that the kids can have today and posted it on the whiteboard so that things get used up and not wasted. Laundry is being done as we speak and the back yard needs mowed. I also need to work on lesson plans today. We may have to sneak in a band practice sometime today also. Busy.....

    Be blessed!

homesteadmamma - She will have NO trouble selling your quilted wall hangings! What an exciting new adventure for you!!!

Yesterday we joined the new church we've been attending. It's still a "starter" church, but we love it there and now it's time to start finding out where the Lord wants us to get plugged in there.

We were supposed to have a picnic on the beach yesterday with friends, but it rained, rained, rained, and rained some more. I've lost so much in my garden due to all the recent rain, but I really shouldn't complain since our rainfall totals for the year are way below average and we have to now worry about fires where we live. Our friends came here for dinner instead and we had a fun evening looking at photos.

Today I need to get some personal and homeschool notebooks in order and return some items to the library.

    Have a great Monday everyone!

    Good morning!

    Try to stay dry CJ!

Today is my last "free" day before I start back full time to work. The kids will be there before you know it. We have trainings this week, most of which are boring. Sure makes the day long when they aren't interesting.

I have laundry going and will hang that to dry when it is done.

I need to make a run to town and return some unneeded items. I also need to call Chris' select ball coach and let him know of our decision. I am praying it is the right one.

Supper has been decided on. I need to go back to my menu planning. These last few weeks I haven't done a menu and it has thrown me off.

I hope you all have a great day!

Good morning everyone! It's looking to be a beautiful sunny day.

My parents left yesterday but they'll be back in a week or so. I skipped church and cleaned the house and baked bread and muffins.

The last few days I've gotten a bit more sleep and dh is doing pretty good. Tomorrow he has his stress test.

Today I have some ground beef to boil up, raspberries to pick, and a greenhouse that has lacked attention the last week. After that I'm planning on resting. Ds#2 as some graphics work to do for a travel agent so I'll have to drive him down there at some point too.

I'm off to enjoy my day. Hoping you're all have a wonderful day!
