Down on the Homestead - Aug. 22 - 28th
Good morning everyone. Kyla has me up early this morning, so once she was fed and outside, I decided instead of crawling back into bed I'd come here. She was only up once last night and then early this morning.
Its dull out and looks like more rain. Dh needs to finish his painting job he has been doing this weekend, so we won't be going anywhere.
We need to get the papers delivered this morning and then its a day or relaxing until later this evening when I have to clean the post office. So it means quilting and reading and playing cards with the kids today.
Have a wonderful Sunday everyone.

Good morning CJ and all to follow!!
Kyla sure sounds like a fun addition to the family CJ!
Today I am running into town to get some pool supplies and pick up some milk and bread.
The rest of the day will be spent in the garden or in the kitchen canning and freezing corn, the rest of the beans and some carrots. We got our first ripe tomato yesterday......we had to fight over who was having the first slice!
I'll be get DH's clothes and meals together for the week as well so I won't be running around in the morning.
Have a blessed Sunday!!

Good morning CJ and Heather,
I have been not on line often so unable to post much. I was up early this a.m. as well and thought of no better place to be early in the morning than the village!
We started school last week and couldn't have asked for a nicer week. In the 70*'s and 80*'s all week. It is supossed to be warmer this weekbut with rain.
I went to Jefferson City yeasterday and did some shopping there. I managed to get lots of supplies for my purses so I can get going there. LOL Guess what else I did while in Jeff? O.K. I just tell you because you'll NEVER guess!
I went to Jo Ann's fabric and met Angealee! We didn't get to spend much time chatting since she was working but she seemed just like the sweetest person. We thought we might get together another time when we could chat longer.
Today we are all going to a friend's house. She and her Dh live on the river. She has the other lead in the play,so we are going to run lines then swim and bbq.
Our contractor is SUPOSSED to come and finish the job he started a year and a half ago. I'm not holding my breath though. He has said he would be here many times and we just sit and wait. Honestly, I just can't fathom some people's work ethics!
I also need to make cucs and onion salad, deviled eggs, and baked beans for dinner tonight.
All the chores were neglected while I went to Jeff yesterday so I need to do laundry and some light cleaning too.
I should get off here and get to work.Oh but wait, I just want to look at a couple more posts.
Have a peaceful day girls.

It was so nice to meet you Marcia and I am sure we will get together in the future. Today I have a lot on my plate. I am working on organizing and getting ready for the kids to start school tomorrow. I also need to catch up the laundry and make a run to the grocery store. I feel a bit overwhelmed the house was so neglected while I was working so much lately but I will plow through it. Have a great day ladies.

This morning was Courtney's Sunday School graduation. She is moving up to the toddler class
my last baby......It was cute and I took some pictures.
She is an only child again lol as Raechel is down the shore until Tuesday, and Ashlee slept at Ally's last night.
DH hurt his back this morning and has pretty much been whining about it all day. I made some Potato cheese soup for us for lunch and it was yummy! I think I'll make spaghetti for dinner. We love our carbs, lol.
After I'm done here I'll go clip my coupons and relax a while while Courtney is napping. I've got a busy week ahead as band camp is starting tomorrow and I have to run Ashlee back and forth a thousand times this week. I love the marching band "scene" and wouldn't trade it for anything!
It's beautiful here today and all the windows are open. A nice change from the norm.
Have a great day!

and goodmorning everyone!
Today DH took the kids up to church while I had some quiet time here at home. I got my Shakespeare stuff done and I think I now have a plan of action to teach my class by.
It's raining here today and I'm absolutely loving it! We have needed this rain for some time now. I put a bucket under where the water runs off the shed roof to catch it and will use it to water the hanging plants. I so enjoyed having my morning coffee out on the covered porch with hubby all wrapped up in my jammies and robe. I did have a cat fightening with me for my seat on the lounge chair, but he finally gave up and crawled out from behind my back.
Jeff and the kids are going to stop by Walmart on the way home and get their hunting liscences today. DH got drawn for a doe tag and he is beside himself with anticipation!!!! The twins are still eligible for the early hunt and can get does also. You should here these guys talk about their plans for the meat! DH suggested that we use one deer just for making pepperoni since it's a favorite around here.
This afternoon hubby and I plan on taking a nap and then watching a video with the kids. We have a deal where twice a month on a Sunday, we get a nap. It's one of those wonderful frugal indulgences!
Have a wonderful day all and be blessed!!!!
BTW~CJ you have got me wanting another puppy!!!!

We've went to church this morning and have been working outside since coming home. I mowed and dh did the weedeating (still working on that one - he's doing most everything today including the pond, but I'm going to have to whack him for getting too close to the garden and spraying clippings in all the beds!). Dh took out our hitching posts in front of the house since they were in bad shape and I got all the holes filled in with dirt from where we dug out spots for the garden beds. I alos have been working on raking out piles of dirt in a low section of the front trying to get it built back up. We are hoping to meet friends at the beach, but the threat of rain may hinder that (as usual here lately
).
Yesterday a friend and his neighbor came over and helped dh with stucco repairs all around our exterior doors (stucco had to be knocked out when we replaced the doors). It's so good to get that done!!!!!
Have a great day!

Hi all!
It's Monday morning here and I slept in! It's the first morning in a long time that I've slept until it was light outside. I got up at 5.30, showered, made tea and came to the computer. Now I feel like going back to bed, I'm still tired.
I have a lot to do today. I have a mountain of ironing that I hope to do half of today and half tomorrow. I have to clean up most rooms in the house + vacuum and wash the floors. The bathroom off our bedroom needs cleaning and I have to bake bread and clean out the fridge. Some "unknown" person spilled lemon cordial on the bottom of the fridge and everything's sticky.
Hopefully when I get into my work I'll get some energy back.
I'm still making my Christmas list and have added an apron and knitting bag for Susan. She admired an apron I made while she was here and as she's getting into her knitting now I thought a little knitting bag would be nice for her too. I hope to make about 80% of my gifts this year and if I do I'll be very pleased with myself. Handmade gifts are much nicer than commercial ones and always tell me that the person giving it has thought about what she is giving and has made a much bigger effort than just going to the store and buying something.
I hope I can do it.
It's good to see everyone having such a lovely family day. I hope you've all enjoyed your Sunday.

Good Afternoon all,
I figured I better post while I had the computer as I am sure I will be kicked off shortly.
Went to church this morning, by myself, as kids are all suffering from allergies and can't stop sneezing. DH slept in as this is his only day off until a week from Tues.
DH and I went for a drive into town
not my favourite place but we went to Home Depot to get some prices on things we need to do some home repairs. Now that I have an idea of how much they cost and I can budget for them over the next couple of months.
Made some brownies to go with the Roast beef for supper tonight and then the rest of the afternoon I got to spend practicing my guitar and piano.
Bethany: I also try to make as many of my Christmas gifts as I can too. My kids are usually disappointed if they don't get at least one hand made gift under the tree!
Debbie - I really like that nap idea. Might have to try that one here.
Good Sunday all

Good morning!

It's still gorgeous here, I managed to convice DH to leave the A/C off last night and we slept like logs
The breeze coming through the window was wonderful!
Today is a work day, but I have to tell the OM that I have to leave at 3:00 because my dad has a dr. appointment and my mom needs to go with him. I don't mind leaving early, that's for sure, lol.
Ashlee has band camp and I have to drop her off in about an hour. They will work on their drill until 12:00, then MIL is picking her up and bringing her home. Then she goes back at 5:00 until 8:30 tonight. The weather is cooperating, so it should be a nice day for the kids.
Raechel is still down the shore with her friend, and DH and I decided last night to let her stay an extra day. She was invited for the full week, but we felt that was too long, especially for a homebody like Raechel. She'll be thrilled when I tell her she can stay one more day.
I'm just enjoying my morning tea and thinking about what to make for dinner.
My sweet little baby just ran into my arms after waking up. I just love the morning cuddles.
Have a wonderful day!

Today is the 1st. day of college for Jesse & Nicole, they just left and Mark will be off to work in about 15 min & then I'll have the whole place to myself
Besides playing on the 'puter, I'll be doing some vaccuming and making a potato salad. Do I know how to have fun or what?

Good morning everyone on this cool Monday morning. It looks like rain although I sure hope not. I want to get into the garden and pull some onions to dry along with cutting up the Swiss chard so I can freeze some.
Along with that, I'll be freezing beet tops from the veggies I was given yesterday, making beet pickles and some rhubarb jam as well. Once the papers are done.
Its going to be a full day just doing that, but I also want to finish reading Beverly Lewis's new book The Sacrifice and do some quilting in there has well.
Kyla slept the night away. She went to her little bed at 10:30 and slept until 5:30 and now is sleeping again. Gotta love a puppy like that. She loves her new toy I bought her yesterday too. I read there is no such thing as a free puppy. I did pay to get her, but she also needs food, toys, collars, etc. Well worth every penny I spend though.
Sassie the cat still isn't too impressed and is pretty much living upstairs right now. Wait until our baby kitten arrives.
Hope everyone has a great day.

It's a perfectly beautiful day here on the prairie!! Sunny and colorful with sunflowers! After feeding the flerd I started my laundry (aka Mount Garment) :surprise: got the kiddos off to school, played with the kittens
started shoveling the boys rooms (I need a tractor to clean those rooms!) and now I am taking a short break on the puter! I hope you all have a lovely day!!

It's bad mood Monday here. LOL First dh's parents told us over the weekend they won't be joining us on our vacation. I didn't want them to anyway (no love lost between me and them), but due to them going we rented a larger (and therefore more expensive) condo than if just me, dh, and ds were going. The company we rented through has no smaller or less expensive properties available so now we're stuck paying more money than necessary. (I am very anal about money - must be the accountant in me - so this really has me upset). We've asked friends of ours here if they would like to go, but they don't know if they can. If they can't, we'll ask my cousin and his wife if they'd like to meet us there, but it's doubtful they can get time off from work on such short notice.
This morning I went by the county extension office to get some 4H curriculum for ds. I've been emailing with the 4H agent and she told me just to stop by any time, no appointment was necessary. Guess what - she wasn't there and the person that helped me told me I really should have made an appointment. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr! I found a couple of things for ds and left my list for the agent along with some other questions I had.
We ran other errands and now need to get the house tidied up before our friends come over tonight to help dh do some other process to the stucco repair that was done Sat.
Dh also called and told me he got some wood (maple) that was torn out of a remodel. It was just going to be thrown in the trash otherwise. Yay! I don't know how big the pieces are or any details, but he said he can definitely use it to make something.
Have a great day everyone!
