Anyone ready for fall?
I can't believe how the summer is coming to an end. Tonight I rode with my husband and the apples are falling from trees, grapes are bright purple etc..
I wish this was still June. I am not ready to do canning, guess my husband will have to do it this year. He did it for the first time last year.
the only thing I love, is when my family is all snuggly in the living room and snow falling.........and I am either reading or mending.
BTW I haven't been on, as my husband tripped over my laptop cord and broke it. I can only get on when the battery is recharged. With my back pain, I can't sit at the main pc to be online.

Miss you Kindred & yep I love fall! Hope your back feels better. Those evenings when it gets dark early & everyone is at home all safe and warm is the best!

I thoroughly cleaned the fireplace, sealed some vents, covered the chicken coop and ironed and put up drapes this weekend. We already got some snow in the mountains and we didn't have much of a summer so I think we might have a "normal" Colorado fall and winter this year - There hasn't been a "normal" winter since I moved here from Scottsdale 12 years ago!! I am actually kindof excited about getting snowed in!!!

I can't believe the summer is gone either. All the apples have fallen off our tree, the leaves are changing already and falling and the last few days it has felt like fall outside.
I hate the cold and snow and like you Kindred wish it was June again.
Glad your back and I hope you are feeling better soon.

We didn't have a typical summer here. It was a cold summer. I love fall and am looking forward to it. My favorite time of year.

I'm sorry to hear about your back pain.

I am NOT a snowbunny - I am a desert dweller but I am looking forward to the little variety / family togetherness I was promised when I moved up here - the Little house on the Prairie stick togethers and snowins where you helped your neighbors and your community was pulled closer together - now thats what I'm Talkin about!!!

Not ready for fall/ Took the garden down, I mean the sunflowers and Indian corn to dry. That will be the bird food for the winter, along with suet I make up with added birdseed. Did the tater dig, have enough to last til spring, if they do not rot. Used a seal a meal to freeze veggies and some apples for a pie in Nov. But the cold make me want to hide inside. What projects can I be doing, so I dont waste the winter by sleeping and watching tv? Tara

I am ready for the cooler temps. I like the change in the season and the early nights.

We are trying to get ready here. This week we will be buying a ton of wood pellets since it has turned cold here and we have to use the heat. Chris built a cold frame that we are going to try out in the garden to see if we can extend the life of our lettuce crop a bit. Some of the acorn squash are ready to pick and I am praying the others ripen before the frost hits. We still have some tomatoes ripening and if need be I'll just bring them in and put them in a box to ripen in the house. The fleece throws and a few quilts are out on the couches and we've been cuddling up with the cats. I still need to get more flour, yeast and a few other things put up so that I can always have good things to bake here at home.

I am definately ready for autumn, even though it's just started spring here. grrrr, I hate hot weather. Let's swap, Dee!
I've been mulching my garden to protect them from the sun and to conserve water. Tomorrow I'll rearrange my front verandah and move the orchids back into the shade. I keep thinking I should pull out the tomatoes but the flowers keep coming, so while they do, I'll keep eating tomatoes. My followup Romas are also full of flowers so I guess they they have toms on them, I'll pull out the First Prize toms (they look gross with all the bottom leaves brown and dead).
ENJOY THE FALL, GIRLS!

I love fall. It is definitely my favourite season. The trees are starting to change colour here. The only thing bad is that it is getting too cold at night to sleep with the window open.

We are getting snow in the mountains tonight and tomorrow night and they said it will be heavy enough to reach down to the foothills - ACK!! I hope we don't get hammered cuz I haven't finished battening down the hatches!!
and I haven't finished our fleecee robes so we don't have shivvery timbers!! oh well - the animals sure are enjoying it!! Its weird going from 80 today to 50 tomorrow though!! - 32 for the overnight low!

I'm kinda ready! I love the season, so I am always ready for the leaves changing and the cooler temps, but mentally my brain is elsewhere. We are trying to buy a house and my nerves are just not settled. In the meantime I'm still getting rid of more clutter and working on Christmas gifts before hand in case we do move sooner than later (hopefully!). I also have some Fall canning things to do and I have to find the time to do that too.
