Blue Spider Plant
I have a huge Spider Plant that I bought at a yard sale last summer. It has just tons of baby Spider Plants hanging down from it. The large Spider Plant has been looking a little sad. Just not the huge strong plant I bought! Do you think I need to cut off some of the little Spider Plants? I haven't because I couldn't possibly plant them all. Anyone know anything about Spider Plants?

Pull the babys, plant what you can, give away what you can, toss the rest you will get more.
Make sure the mama plant isn't to big for the pot. If it is move it to a bigger pot or split it and put it in 2 pots.
I buy cheap pots (sales, yard sales) and teachers, ect. get spider plants for gifts.
When I have to spilt my plant that usually goes to a friend or family member for what ever occation is happening at the time.
Good luck

Thanks Kimmomo! How do you know where to "split" the Spider Plant? Do I just break it apart anywhere in the rootball? I am afraid to take it out of the pot and then not know what to do from there! LOL!

My main plant kinda grows in divitions(I think it knows
) but if yours doesn't just cut it down the middle. Water it in the new pot well and even top it with some compost or liquid fetilizer..... and new plant for you!

You might want to think about some Miracle Gro....sounds as though it isn't getting enough nutrient.

I absolutely love spider plants! Mine gets really sad looking in the winter months. The second it gets to be 50's outside at night, I leave it outside until about Oct and it goes haywire and turns a beautiful lush green. I think it's the cool AM dew that does it wonders.
My ex boyfriend's mom had this awesome spider plant. The pot was about 2 feet in diameter and hung from an exposed beam in her bedroom. She hung it in the french doors she had in her bedroom and the darn plant took up more than 1/2 the doors. It was a monster and it is my goal to have one like that one day.
