Default Down of the Homestead Sept 26 - Oct 2

    Good morning everyone.

DH went to his first protest march yesterday - a protest against Steve Irwin's plans to have 60 helicopter flights per day flying over this area. Pffffft. There were hundreds of people there and Steve kept driving out one entrance of the zoo, checking out the crowd and driving back in again. DH said there were undercover cops in the crowd LOL!! When I came home from work last night, the first thing I saw when I walked in the house was DH on the national news! Crikey mate LOL. DH was really excited about it and wouldn't stop talking about what he did and said. I hope the protest does stop the helicopter plans though.

Today I'll be ironing and sewing Christmas gifts. If it's not too hot I'll move some rose bushes in my garden.

    Enjoy today.

Bethany ~ Ack, what a way to ruin a neighbourhood all for the sake of commercialism. I'd be protesting too.

Started off my Sunday at church with DS#2, the other two kids have bad colds and so decided it would be wise to stay home. DD was disappointed though as it was her first Sunday singing with the choir. The sermon was a very tough topic...stewardship and money.

After church I went to my very first QUILT SHOW!! I really want to learn how to quilt and now I am even more determined than ever. I do have a dilemma though. I am supposed to be learning how to spin and I don't want to start on too many new things at once. So I have to decide which one to start with.

I also took DS#2 to buy a new computer game he has been saving up for. Poor kid got home loaded it on to the computer and can't get it to work. He is going to check with a friend who has it tomorrow to see if he had problems.

When we got home, I baked bread, muffins and made pudding for lunches tomorrow. I broke a glass jar in the kitchen so ended up vacumming the kitchen and family room. I didn't want the dogs to get hurt on any renegade glass. Two load of laundry done. I got most of my bedroom cleaned yesterday including cleaning out my closet. Managed to fill a whole garbage bag for Salvation Army, all really good stuff that is too big for me now. Yahoo

Well, that's been my day. Hope you have all had a restful day on your homesteads. I am going to make a cup of tea and perhaps crochet for a little bit. G'night!

Good morning everyone. I took the weekend off from the computer (except for the update on QM) and I enjoyed it so much I plan on doing more of it. I've been reevaluating my life and there are a few things I feel I really need to change -the computer is one of them.

Once the kids are up and fed, I'll get them started at their school work.

    Then I plan on:

    ~decluttering some more
~joining flylady so I can get help organizing
~getting a couple parcels ready to mail tomorrow
~washing a couple loads of laundry

Then this afternoon, I need to head into the city and deposit a check.

Otherwise, a simple and quiet day here on my little homestead.

    Have a great day everyone.

It's a drizzly, dark day here, ick. I'm not feeling up to par today so I probably won't do much except dishes and maybe some ironing. We did get our rooster last week and he's so pretty and has a great personality; dd and I are thrilled with him! It's nice to hear the crowing in the morning again, I've missed that. Dh is looking at some old fork-lift parts this morning. He wants to build a hybrid-electric car and says he can use some kind of parts from the fork-lift for it. I'm interested to see how he's going to do this.

Kim (QM) I hope you all are doing ok and get your power on soon! Our thoughts and prayers are with you and all the others affected by the storm. There were 3 electric trucks at the grocery store last night and the guys were buying ice, soda and snacks for the drive down to Florida, so I know of at least 3 trucks full of power workers headed down your way. Looks like Jeanne is heading up this way now to give us some rain.

Good morning everyone! It's another beautiful sunny day. I'll be spending my rest time out on the sundeck enjoying the sun while I can.

Bethany - I think it's Tuesday on your side of the world and if it is then I think today's your 25th anniversary. Happy Anniversary to you and your dh. Hope you have a wonderful day!

Today I need to bake bread, cookies, do laundry, dust, declutter my bedroom, and continue to help dd with organizing her old room. She has so much junk! She has problems tossing anything; everything seems to have sentimental value to her. Yesterday was a stressful day for both of us. Me wanting to toss things and her wanting to keep it all. She has still being feeling sick so I'm trying to be gentle

This afternoon I plan on working on Christmas gifts and spending some time outside enjoying the sun.

Hope you all have a wonderful day!

Well as big a fan of Steve's as I am Bethany I think this helicopter business is going too far! He has got to consider the other people in the area! I certainly wouldn't like them going over my house all the time!

ROFL Tina, that describes my dd and me to a T too!!!! Got up this morning a few minutes late, they were all leaving at 6 45 am. I should have risen earlier to remind them that tis monday the day we do sheets.

They didn't strip their beds and both rooms are a pit of despond, with clothing and bits of paper everywhere.

Dd did make an effort, a lampshade, 3 tiny stuffed animals and a single riding boot are in the giveaway pile though. I need to remind her that one boot goes in the trash, we only give pairs in good quality away.

AND she took down a lot of stapled up poster bits and put up one beautiful framed charcoal sketch of St Basil's cathedral over in Russia that she picked up this summer.

I'm seeing this as progress of a sort-- it does look better.

    Goodmorning all!

Sunday my hubby surprised us all by saying that he was taking us to a town about 3 hours from home that we had not been to since the twins were toddlers. We stopped along the way at various shops and picked up a tiki torch at Pier 1 that was on clearance. Josh was determined that he needs it for hunting this year. We found a lovely restaurant to have lunch at with huge portions and low prices, so all the kids got filled up. The beach was our next stop and DH and the boys played basketball with some other kids there for about 2 hours. I sat and enjoyed the beautiful lake and mountains and read 2 books and the newspaper. On the way home we made another stop and got some a few items that we needed.

    Monday:
Today I got up early, did my devotions and then got myself ready for the day. I had to run down to the library and then up to the school by 7:30 a.m. so that I could get the posters up for the afterschool program on Wednesday. I also made arrangements with the teachers for the preschool/k/1st grade reading program that I do there once a month. Then it was back to the library to order books for the program.

The boys have been busy with their schoolwork and chores. All 3 of them are interviewing people in our town today for a writing assignment. They have picked some very interesting people to interview. The first person used to have a garage here in town years ago and does beautiful needlepoint now. He knows this town's history inside and out. The next one is 91 years old and restores old wagons. He has an original Pony Express wagon that he has fully restored. The third person is a semi-retired 4 star Rear Admiral for the Navy. He is still a consultant for the Navy and will be for the rest of his life. He also owns a manufacturing business that has branches here and in Georgia. I'm really looking forward to reading the reports when they are done. The kids are going to make cookies as a thank you to these wonderful people who are willing to share their time and lives with the boys.

This afternoon I have to go to work the library and Jeff had a class tonight to attend. I'm hoping to have dinner ready so my guys can just warm it up when they are ready. My time until then will be busy doing work in the gardens, cooking , cleaning and doing school with the boys.

Be blessed all and have a wonderful day!

    Hi Everyone!

I wish the Lord would put my mind at ease...at least for the moment...and make the next nine days go by really fast! Just kidding, I know there is no sense in worrying about something that I have absolutely no control over, but please tell me that I am not the only worry wart here!! Geepers! I feel like a basket case inside sometimes and today that's what I feel like! We made an offer on the house. I dropped all of the signed paperwork and the check in the mail this morning and it should arrive to our realtor tomorrow. We couldn't drive to the office like we planned to do yesterday, but no worries about that. IF they accept our offer then I need to wait for my boss's answer. One step at a time right? I think back to all the other steps that we had to wait for just in the last two weeks and it feels good to know how far we've come with the process so far.

We are discovering that focusing on one minute step at a time is key for staying calm and focused. But today I'm a nervous reck inside again...probably because I'm at work! I need to pray more about it. I hate the feeling that I'm complaining to you all about this, but I know most of you, if not all, can totally relate! I never felt this way before about our last house (although I didn't have to move far away from town either). DH is going through the same thing and he is usually very calm. We have talked about these feelings that we're having and I guess their normal. Yesterday I broke down a little and cried just for the relief of the overwhelming emotions associated with all of this. If we make it to closing, I know that it will be one of the happiest days of our lives!

I keep thinking about Kim and hope and pray that they are safe!

I hope you are all having good days. I wish I had time for personals. Take care!

    Good morning ladies.

Today is my 25th wedding anniversary. Good memory, Tina, and thank you so much for the kind wishes. I woke up in the dark at 5am, as usual, went into our bathroom for a shower and when I came out, instead of finding DH asleep in the dark, our bedroom was full of light and DH was sitting on the edge of the bed with a bunch of flowers. Awwww. I gave him his gift - a stereo/mp3 player/dvd thingo combo and he was over the moon. It's blaring out as I type this. He said I have to wait until tonight for my gift. He swapped work days with me so I'll be at our store today while he does "stuff" He's going to Brisbane - our capital city, an hour's drive away. That's all he'll tell me.

Michele Annette, I am so thrilled that you put in an offer for your house. I meant to say something about it yesterday but I forgot. Sorry. I even searched for your town and had a little peak. It's gorgeous! I wish I was moving there. This feels good to me, I'm sure everything will work out and you'll get your happiest day. I'm terribly impatient so I know how tough it is to wait, but it won't be long and then you'll have to pack! It's all good.

CJ, I agree it is good to get away from the computer. They tend to overtake your life if you let them. I hope your time online still includes a lot of FV, you are an important part of the village. Coincidently, I joined Flylady yesterday after I read a few things Margery said about her.

Julia, on the news last night they said the route for the helicopters will change in response to the resisent's concerns. Not enough. We want no flights at all. We will hear the sound of them no matter in which direction they fly. I'll keep you posted.

I'll be at our store all day but I'll be working on christmas gifts there when I have spare time.

    Enjoy your day.

    Bethany ~ Happy Anniversary

Debbie ~ It sounds like you had a wonderful day yesterday.

Michele~ still praying for you and your house.

Well, today started off horribly. I went to boot up my computer this morning and it wouldn't start I spent two hours trying to get it going and then finally got my husband to call for help. $ 60 later the tech tells me there is nothing I can do except to reinstall Windows, which I had thought of doing but ... so I reinstalled Windows and now it is fine.

I did get a lot of work done as a relief for my internet withdrawal symptoms. Three loads of laundry done, all on the line, two loafs of bread and the dishes done. I also cleaned fingerprints off of walls and played with my dogs. I even knit half of a sleeve today.

Course once the computer was back up nothing else got done.

The weather forecast is calling for cooler weather by the end of the week so we will be busy finishing up the winterizing of our homestead this week. Hope you are all ready for winter on your homesteads.

    Goodnight

Good morning! I miss this place!

My job is going well, I like it alot. It's long hours, 8 or 9 usually with only a 1/2 hour break all day. I feel like I shovel in my lunch and go right back to work! It's a really busy cardiology practice, I think more busy than family practice if you can imagine! I really like it though.

Courtney is thriving at school although I wish she was all the way potty trained. We're still working on that.

Ashlee and Raechel are busy with school and Ashlee and I are busy with marching band on the weekend. They had their first competition Saturday night and came in 3rd out of six. They are not done their drill yet, and had they been they would have placed first, but they received a penalty for the show being too short.

My first night of chaperoning was cool. I have a bag of goodies I carry around, medical stuff and various other junk. I ended up having to sew a holey glove for a tuba player, provided screwdrivers to tighten the drum heads, and helped fix a clarinet pad with tape that was in the bag! lol! I also brought an extra hat with me, and sure enough there was a SENIOR that forgot his hat. I sure saved his butt! lol

This week is back to school night, so I have one Wednesday night and one Thursday night. Friday night football game and Saturday night band competition. I'm a busy girl but I love it.

Hope everyone is doing well, hope to see QM on here soon.
