Down on the Homestead - Oct. 3 - 9th
Good morning everyone. I slept in until 10. It was just so nice and warm under those quilts, considering how cold it is. Were getting down to -7C tonight. Oh my, winter is on its way.
Today is going to be a relaxing day here. Dh has asked me to help him decide where to put shelving in his shop (all free) and he will also put shelving in my sewing room. I can't wait for that. It will free up the floor space!!!
In a few minutes I'll be shutting off the computer and won't be back on until tomorrow moring. Just checking in right now.
We may end up going to a flea market this afternoon, will see what the weather is like. Its very windy right now and so difficult to take ds#2 out in cold weather has he always ends up sick.
Have a great day everyone.

Enjoy the flea market if you go, CJ! That sounds like fun!!!
We have friends coming over for lunch. We've been tidying the house this morning and I don't know what the rest of the day holds. I'd like to go to the beach. I am worn out from dragging yard debris to the road all day yesterday so I won't be doing any more of that today. LOL
Dh was able to fix our water softener himself so that saved us some money for sure. Now I can wash clothes!

Good Sunday Afternoon everyone

Michele ~ Yahoo! that is wonderful news of your offer being accepted. I am so happy for you.
We had frost last night and it is quite cool but sunny this morning. I had a great time at the concert last night. The music was exceptional!
Went to church this morning. It was communion and my DH took communion with us for the first time. A very emotional morning.
Kids have gone to the local fair this afternoon so DH and I are going to go for a nice leisurely walk.
No housework today, just some knitting.
Roast of beef for dinner tonight.
Happy Sunday!

Chriss, sounds like a lovely day for you and DH.
Michele, excellent news. I'm so happy for you. Turning points in life are always exciting, they are hard work too, but all your work will pay off in the most wonderful way. I can tell by your posts how excited you are.
I'm working at our store again today while DH cleans up our shrubs and prunes our overgrown trees. What is it with men and clippers? They never seem to know when to stop clipping. Anyhow, we have free disposal of yard waste this month at the local tip so we're taking full advantage of that.
The weather is hovering between warmth and coolness. We have cool nights and mornings and warm days, it's nice.
Hi to all who come later.

Hi Everyone!
Thank you so much for all of the Congratulations! It means so much to me!
Well, can you believe I am still a nervous wreck?
I will not feel good until the day we close and have that key in our hand! And that is the honest truth!
I need to start doing yoga, I think. Anyone here do yoga and love it? Does it help with maniac frazzled women like me?
The next worry of mine is Aaron said to me now that he wasn't completely sure that there was cable internet...HUH???
Wait a minute, " I thought we already discussed this!" I say. DH said "Well, I thought there was, and I'm almost sure there is, but we need to find out for sure." I thought he was possitive when we first looked at the house....
Oy! I'm not posting pictures until we know we have this baby!
It has been so chilly here and next weekend is PEAK in Vermont. Aaron's Mom and BF are staying for the weekend. We will be bringing them to our new town and showing them the house. The realtor said he would open it for us. Well lets hope that it has Broadband first.
Have a great Sunday!

Chriss~I'm so happy that your hubby took communion with your family today. What a special memory and start for all of you.

Michelle~praying that the house has what you need to work from it.
Bethany~I can just imagine you there at the store today looking out the back and seeing that gorgeous view.
to everyone else yet to come.
Today we slept in once again. It felt so good!!!!
Jeff and the boys went out to life weights in the garage and then the boys headed up the street to a yard sale. You would not believe the bargains they got...a nice FOX (racing team) leather coat for $5, a camo outfit for hunting, a beautiful bike for $5 and the best bargain, a vintage electric guitar for $70! It's gorgeous and sounds beautiful!!! It even had a wammy bar so Chris is going like this
! Jaysn loaned Chris the money to get it since I have yet to be paid at my job.
Jaysn and I headed over to another town in Idaho where my BIL works so that we could pick up some computer parts that another BIL sent home with him from their visit to Seattle this weekend. Jaysn is using the parts to build Chris a working computer. While we were there (BIL works at a grocery store) I went shopping and got some great bargains! I just love their marked down prices there. I managed to get bar soap for .25 each and lots of meat too!
This afternoon hubby and the twins are heading out to the gun club to sight in the new gun and also sight in the guns the twins are borrwing from friends this hunting season. They are all so excited!!!! Me, I'm going to stay home. I don't like guns or being anywhere near them.
I'll just work on the laundry and do some reading thank you!
Hope you are all having a blessed day!!!!

Hi all,
Chriss and Michelle such wonderful news from both of you! congrats to Dh and you Michelle.
Today we got up early and went to play practice. When we got home I started right on housework and with a little prompting
the rest of the family joined in too.
Alex and I went to the pumpkin patch and got a pumpkin for carving later in the month. She has been woking on pulling her bow. She is getting stronger in that arm and soon we'll be able to go get arrows.
I cleaned the drawers in the kitchen and have done a few loads of laundry. They are hanging on the line now and we will need to get them in soon. Today Michael and I wastched Kill Bill Vol.1. It was very good and true to Quintin Tarintino style, not for the weak of stomach.
For dinner tonight I think I'll throw a chicken in the oven along with some cabbage and maybe a salad. Not in the oven though. lol
Have a peaceful day all.
Marcia

Good afternoon everyone! It's been another beautiful sunny day and I'm taking the time to enjoy it. I've been sitting out on the deck reading and the sunbeams feel wonderful. At night the temperature drops to -6C but a least the days are nice and warm.
Ds#2 and dd are teaching and taking first aid classes this weekend so they've been gone both days.
Ds#1 and dh are working on building some beautiful shelves and a desk for dd's new bedroom. I decided to wait till tomorrow to vacuum has they're bring in sawdust when they come inside to measure.
After church this morning I came home and made lunch and then ran to a new store for a few great deals. I've been enjoying the sun and doing small jobs outside.
Yesterday we ate supper outside and today we will too. Winter is long enough here so while the weather is good we will take advantage of it.
I found out last night that my db and dsil are coming for Thanksgiving weekend (October 11th for us Canadians). I'll have to make some room for them. The basement is a mess with things all over because of the moving of rooms arounds. After dd is settled in her new room downstairs then her old room will become dh's office and computer room, and then the old office will become my new pantry which I'm very excited about. Anyways, you know how it is when you take on a project like this; everything is moved all over the place until things are settled in each new room.
Hope you're all having a great weekend!~ Tina ~

We are prepping our homestead for the BRRRR ee cold winter! We live in a twostory - a modular over a full walkout Basement that is mostly unfinished - last year from November on - our utilities were outrageous trying to heat this place - we even bought a huge Kerosene heater to run downstairs to take the edge off but the kerosene cost was out of this world as well. So we spent today insulating the walls of the unfinished parts with really thick insulation and covering them with very thick presswood cuz we can't afford all of the dry wall yet. We got tons of wonderful pieces of press wood 4x8 sheets from Bruces work for nothing - its how they stack freight in the semis (hes a trucker). You can already feel it warming up down there. We won't be able to completely finish the basement til next summer. we just got Damon a waterbed off freccycle so all three kids (and we) will be snuggly warm this yearwith out having to use the gas furnace as much!! And I am making insulated curtains for all of the upstairs and downstairs windows and french doors. Busy - Busy!! It feels great!!

Hello All & thanks so much for having me!
Today was a topsy-turvy kindda day! We spent about 7 hours in all of the area shelters trying to find *the dog* for GW - we finally found her! I'll post a picture of her later....after that, we phoned several fence companies to have a fence installed in our backyard - they're coming out on Tuesday.....
Tomorrow I will string my clothesline if I'm able after we get home from having Belle's braces put on - she's pretty scared now!
Did a couple of loads of clothes today & would've loved to have hung them out!
AC still on here as it HOT!! Menus being made... Lesson Plans in production as well! The Homeschool Homestead is cranking into high gear!!
Have a wonderful evening all!

How exciting Debbie!
(((((HUGS))))) for Belle!
Ds and I are going to a friend's house this morning and then to the thrift store with her and her dd. This is the store I used to frequent before we moved and it's just too far of a drive now for me to pop by there anytime. They are supposed to be having a $2 bag sale. I of course will also look at all the books! Then we'll have lunch at her house and go swimming. Homeschool will be late this afternoon and early evening. Ds is really flexible and doesn't care when we do his lessons (yay!). I also need to drop items by the library on the way.
We did go to the beach last evening and it's interesting in how you even get on the beach now. All the staircases have been badly damaged so they're not usable. We're having to use a ramp that is for emergency vehicles only, but it's the only thing not damaged. We're still having to jump from it onto the beach though because the bottom of it is just dangling in the air. The erosion is even worse this time. Dh and ds had some great time alone while I beachcombed. I found some nice shells that normally don't wash up here intact and 20 pieces of sea glass (definitely the most I've ever found at once). I really enjoyed myself (and needed that!).

Good morning everyone. Its so cold here. I'm leaving the kids snuggle under blankets for a bit until it warms up. Actually thats where I should be. I'm so wanting to not turn the furnace on, but if it continues like this, were going to have to turn it on. UGH.
We had a wonderful weekend, quiet but relaxing. I got more done on my afghan, more hand quilting done on the raffle quilt, shelves put up in my sewing room, shelves put up in dh's workshop, bread baked, cookies made and lots of reading and playing games with the kids.
Today I plan on:
~making bread
~baking some muffins
~folding clothes
~washing a load of clothes
~working more on my sewing room
~hand quilting a bit
~reading later
Hope everyone has a great day.
