    Talking Somebodys laying eggs!

I got 1 peking and 1 roan ducking the end of april. Someone layed an egg last night. I have no reason to be but I'm throughly delighted!

I'd didn't think they would lay without a male around for some reason.

Duck eggs don't taste that good for breakfast but they are great to bake with!! I have boys and girls so I incubate mine since they are definately babies in them - baby ducks are the cutest poopinest little things there are!!

I'm thinking about getting a male around january to make babies next spring/summer.
I didn't even think about eatting them but I guess we could. Do they taste radically different?

No just more potent!! Very rich tasting on their own. Just so you know - ducks aren't very good at sitting on their own eggs - they have a better hatch rate if you incubate them - your boys will absolutely love incubating them!! They hatch in about 3-4 weeks. I have pekins, swedish, and quackie campbells (lol). I want to try call ducks one day but I guess they are pretty spendie.

never heard of that breed! Thanks for the info Kimmee.
I got 1 more egg this morning, washed it and put it inthe fridge. Maybe I'll use it in some apple bread.

Congrats on your first egg. We don't have ducks, just chickens. Still my kids get a kick out of gathering them.
